Viz Media Announces New ‘Star Wars: Visions’ Manga Adaptation

Popular anime and manga publisher Viz Media announced that it will publish a manga adaptation of the anime series Star Wars: Visions. The manga adaptation is slated for release sometime in the summer of 2024.

Viz Media broke the news on X/Twitter, alongside a cover of the manga. Some of the creators attached to the project include Kamome Shirahama, Keisuke Sato, and Yusuke Osawa.

The pre-order listing on Barnes & Noble provides a few more details, such as the page length and the release date. The page length is listed at 232 pages. The release date is listed as May 7, 2024. However, this all may change later in the future. We’ve also provided the listed summary below:

Celebrate the mythos of Star Wars with this manga adaptation of the hit Disney+ series Star Wars: Visions!

The first series of Star Wars: Visions invited visionary Japanese anime studios to explore the Star Wars galaxy through their unique cultural lens. Now, top manga creators such as Kamome Shirahama and Yusuke Osawa bring those visions to life in manga form! Featuring the episodes: “The Elder,” “Lop and Ocho,” “The Ninth Jedi,” and “The Twins.”

While not mentioned, this is most likely the same version of the Star Wars: Visions manga that has already been released in Japan, which adapted the same episodes. This would not be the first time that a Japanese-exclusive Star Wars manga has been ported overseas. Just last month, fans were able to get their hands on the manga adaptation of The Mandalorian, which was previously only published in Japan.

The new manga anthology follows a number of announced projects that look to expand upon the world of Star Wars: Visions. Marvel recently announced two new one-shot comics within the popular Visions series, one focusing on the episode titled “The Duel” and the other a brand new story helmed by creator Peach Momoko. Viz also has an original Visions manga in the works.

Lucasfilm Publishing hosts its New York City Comic Con panel later on today. Stay tuned for possibly even more info as Star Wars News Net will continue to cover all the latest events happening around Star Wars books and comics.
