Jacen Syndulla and Mon Mothma Command New ‘Ahsoka’ Character Posters
Two new character posters from the latest episode of Ahsoka have made their way online, showing Lucasfilm is embracing the era of open spoilers on social media 24 hours after the latest episode debuts. The new Ahsoka posters are focused on two of the new episode’s cameos, Jacen Syndulla and Mon Mothma.
Jacen made his live-action debut in Part Three played by young actor Evan Whitten while Mon Mothma, now Chancellor Mothma, made her first appearance post-Return of the Jedi since that movie came out. Even putting aside the heavy layers of Photoshop touches, it’s interesting how we didn’t even see Genevieve O’Reilly in the flesh in the new episode, as her one-scene appearance was via hologram, but here she is commanding her own poster. Jacen only had an even shorter scene, but it was enough to make all of that pre-show talk about LEGO sets and dark hairs instantly pointless. His hair is very green, and if the show didn’t prove it enough, here he is with his own poster:
At this point, it’s unknown if we’ll be seeing Mon Mothma again, but given how the talk between New Republic government officials and Hera went, it’s certainly within the possibilities. The trailers have already previewed that we’ll be seeing more of Jacen in Ahsoka, though we don’t expect him to be a major part of the series — although Evan Whitten did have his name on the main credits of the show, with his own solo title card, which could hint at him having a bigger role than we thought.
Both of these cameos in Part Three have certainly opened the door for much bigger parts in future Star Wars projects — now that Mon Mothma has been briefed on the possibility of Grand Admiral Thrawn returning, there’s no putting the genie back in the bottle. When we get to the big climactic event in Dave Filoni’s film, she must be there in some capacity. As such, she will be the first recast original trilogy character to have major parts before and after the original actress’ portrayal. Caroline Blakiston played the part in Return of the Jedi.
