‘Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’ Drops Final Story Trailer Teasing New Antagonist
Just over a month before the release of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, EA has debuted a brand-new trailer that reveals more details about the story for the long-awaited sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order. If you want to go into the game completely spoiler-free, then back away now!
The trailer is just under two minutes long and gives us a good idea about Cal’s mental state at the beginning of the game. He sounds beleaguered as he states “it’s been a long five years” since the events of Fallen Order. He says “We tried to resist”, but “fear and mistrust rules the galaxy” as footage shows Cal fighting against the Empire in an unknown city, and then pivots to an alien scrambling away from local gangsters and B-1 battle droids on Koboh, with Cal watching in the background.
We also get a brief look at a lightsaber battle between Cal and an unknown enemy wielding an orange lightsaber. Perhaps this is the ancient Jedi we had seen floating in the bacta tank in other trailers, who we’ve also seen speaking with the Gen’dai character in another still image. We see him confront Cal in the trailer, asking “How could you let the galaxy fall to this unworthy machine of an Empire?” as he tosses a stormtrooper helmet towards him.
Merrin also offers some sage wisdom to Cal as they sit by a fire: “Cal, look into the fire. It’ll warm you, keep you company. But left unchecked, it’ll consume everything.” It’s unclear what Merrin is talking about here; possibly that Cal is relying on something dangerous that could consume him later on in the story?
Among some great sizzle reel shots of a structure collapsing in front of Cal in a sandstorm, the Mantis flying through the air, and Cal fighting an armored enemy with a jetpack and a flamethrower, we can also see that Merrin and Greez are sporting some new looks to go with Cere Junda’s, who was already seen in a previous trailer.
We even see a glimpse of Cal and Merrin fighting alongside each other in the gameplay, while Cal exclaims “We’ve finally found somewhere the Empire can’t reach us.” We next see Bode Akuna reply, “Imagine… No more looking over your shoulder. A place that’s worth fighting for, no matter the cost.” It seems Koboh will indeed play a pivotal role in the story.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will launch on April 28 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
