Rosario Dawson Shares Excitement for Next ‘The Mandalorian’ Episode (Co-Written by Dave Filoni), Could It Be a Hint?

With The Mandalorian season 3 about to reach its halfway point next week with Chapter 20, fans have been wondering about major cameos. After all, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have delivered more on that front than anyone expected throughout season 2 of the show and its spinoff, The Book of Boba Fett. Now, Rosario Dawson has suggested via her Instagram account that Ahsoka may be returning to The Mandalorian before venturing into the unknown in her own series. Check out her message below:

Ahsoka Tano showing up again wouldn’t be a shock, given the few seconds of another Order 66 flashback through Grogu’s POV that we saw in the main trailer. In The Book of Boba Fett, he was only able to regress thanks to Luke Skywalker’s Force-powered assistance. And before that, Ahsoka was the first to learn about his past with the Jedi Order and tell viewers that “Baby Yoda” was called Grogu. The big mystery that remains is: who saved him? Place your bets now, as we might be getting an answer sooner rather than later. (Last year we threw around the idea of Barriss Offee potentially being that person.)

Furthermore, Ahsoka is close friends at this point in the timeline with Sabine Wren, who’s a key part of recent Mandalorian history and a perfect candidate to show up in this season of The Mandalorian without derailing the main plot. Regardless of whether the final Star Wars Rebels scene happens before or after what we’ve seen from Ahsoka so far in live-action, Sabine should be close to her at this point, so chances of them showing up together are definitely high.

Another question is if Dawson is right about the next episode (though she’s unintentionally leaked juicy info in the past, she’s also made some mistakes). If we look at the list of directors for season 3 — which hasn’t failed us so far — next week’s episode belongs to Carl Weathers; this suggests a return to Nevarro and the pirate subplot, yet Favreau and Filoni are great at throwing curveballs. Moreover, Filoni is co-writing Chapter 20, and the list of writers hasn’t failed us yet either. So yeah, there are high chances of getting an Ahsoka (and potentially Sabine Wren) cameo next week despite our gut feeling about Weathers’ work and the leaked runtime for Chapter 20 — 30 min. (via @Cryptic4KQual), which may be the entire series’ shortest so far, making a lore-heavy episode tricky to pull off.

Of course, we also have the option of Dawson simply celebrating her excitement about the new season and dying to see what comes next. The photograph that accompanies her post was taken during the season 3 red carpet event, but the timing of this post — alongside the facts we’ve shared in the previous paragraph — definitely lends itself to suspicion. What do you think? Sound off in the comments below!

Meanwhile, Dave Filoni has confirmed the “climactic event” that will bring all the “Mando era” shows together and was teased by Kathleen Kennedy in 2020 is still coming, though what shape it may take or when it will happen remains a mystery. For now, it appears The Mandalorian won’t be ending anytime soon. As we wait for Chapter 20, be sure to check out Matt’s review of this week’s surprising Chapter 19 if you haven’t.
