New ‘The Mandalorian’ TV Spot Unveils Never-Before-Seen Footage

Lucasfilm has dropped another new TV spot for The Mandalorian ahead of the season 3 premiere this week. While it’s only a short video, it does include lots of new footage, which we’ve broken down for you below.

Titled “Who We Are”, we hear the voice of Din Djarin explaining the Mandalorian creed to Grogu:

Being a Mandalorian’s not just about learning how to fight. The creed is how we survived. Without the creed, what are we?

This is likely the theme for the upcoming season, which should ask more questions about what makes a Mandalorian. We then hear The Armorer, Paz Vizsla, and Din again, each uttering the phrase “This is the way” as we’re treated to a sizzle reel of new shots from the upcoming season.

One of the earliest pieces of new footage we’re treated to is a space battle between Din Djarin in his N-1 Naboo starfighter and some unknown enemies in an asteroid field. These foes are not Imperials and don’t appear to be Mandalorian either. Most likely, they’re a new enemy we haven’t met yet, but it’s possible they could be connected to the pirates we’ve seen giving Greef Karga trouble on Nevarro.

Some more footage of the dogfight in the asteroid field gives us a close up of the N-1’s cockpit, as Din appears to be flying “upside down” as he skirts along an asteroid for cover.

We get a shot of Din Djarin exploring some old underground ruins in a huge cavern, light seeping through to light up the ancient structures. Perhaps these are the ancient mines of Mandalore, where Din was instructed to travel in order to atone for the perceived “crime” of removing his helmet in front of others, a quest set for him by The Armorer in The Book of Boba Fett.

We see Bo-Katan and her Mandalorians jumping into battle on the same lush planet with the overcast sky that’s been shown off in other footage, where we’ve seen Mandalorian starfighters tangling with Imperial TIE Interceptors.

There’s another shot of Din Djarin flying through the air with Paz Vizsla and other Mandalorians from his old covert on a rocky planet. Presumably, Din does find what he’s looking for in the mines of Mandalore to get him back on The Armorer’s good side. Otherwise, he surely wouldn’t be able to get Paz as an ally. Perhaps this world is Nevarro, although the lighter tone of the rocks suggests it’s a different planet.

We get a shot of a Mandalorian starfighter approaching a Mandalorian city encased inside another of those biodomes. This is surrounded by marshland however, suggesting this city is not on Mandalore. It seems likely this a Mandalorian colony on a different planet, likely one led by Bo-Katan, as the weather and lush greenland look similar to the other shots she’s appeared in from footage shown before.

We get another shot of a Mandalorian starfighter being pursued by TIE Interceptors. The clouds in the background match up with the lush green planet we see in the other shots, so it seems Bo-Katan’s Mandalorians are fighting off an Imperial Remnant. Perhaps they’re under orders from Moff Gideon after he was taken captive last season?

Finally, we get a blurry split-second shot of Din Djarin looking out from his N-1 cockpit at a large rock (resembling a giant Wookiee, haha) out in the sea. Is there someone meditating on top of the rock? Is that even a rock? Who knows?

That’s what we were able to decipher from the new TV spot. It’s only a couple more days to go until The Mandalorian season 3 premieres on Disney Plus. It seems a pretty safe bet that it’ll be worth the wait.
