‘Andor’ Season 2: Denise Gough Promises Different Looks for Dedra Meero

Dedra Meero will go through more costumes as her character progresses through the second and final season of Andor, which will tell the story leading up to the events of Rogue One.

In a recent interview with the SAG-AFTRA Foundation (hat tip r/StarWarsLeaks), Denise Gough revealed a small tidbit about her future in Andor, as the second half of the series has begun filming in November and will wrap up in August. Understandably, there is little that she can say about the new episodes of the series, which will cover various adventures in the four years leading up to the events preceding A New Hope, but she did reveal that her character Dedra Meero will have a greater number of options in her wardrobe in the second season:

“…And then, in the second season, I had a costume fitting recently and I put on something because – maybe it’s a spoiler – but I get to wear something else this season.”

Unfortunately, Gough also explained in a tongue-in-cheek fashion that her wardrobe is a little more limited than she might have liked, because some of the costumes that she had put on during the fitting weren’t actually for her character:

“But I put on a costume, and I looked at it and said, ‘This is Mon Mothma, isn’t it?’ and he said ‘Yeah.’ I said ‘I can’t wear it, can I?’ It’s like, every character, and there was another costume that I looked at, and I was like ‘That’s too Bix for me, isn’t it? I’m not allowed to have that, either!'”

What sorts of costumes we’ll see remain to be seen, but a few ideas seem likely: she might dress incognito, she might get a new outfit befitting of a promotion, or she may just let her hair down and have a few scenes where she’s off-duty. Or perhaps she may do any combination of these. With the level of secrecy associated with Star Wars, it seems that only time will tell.

The first season of Star Wars: Andor is streaming exclusively on Disney Plus. The second and final season is currently filming for most of this year, with the series most likely set to return and conclude in late 2024.
