Manny Jacinto Joins the Cast of ‘The Acolyte’

The upcoming dark side-based live-action Star Wars Disney Plus series The Acolyte begins filming this Fall in the UK, and with that, the wave of casting news has really started to pick up. The latest addition to the cast of Leslye Headland’s project is The Good Place star Manny Jacinto. Here is what we know so far.

This one comes from Deadline, who are exclusively reporting Manny Jacinto has joined Lee Jung-jae and Jodie Turner-Smith as supporting cast to series lead Amandla Stenberg. Details about his character, like just about all the details for The Acolyte, are currently unknown.

For Star Wars fans not familiar with Manny Jacinto, he can recently be seen in the biggest movie of 2022, Top Gun: Maverick, as pilot Billy “Fritz” Avalone, though Jacinto is perhaps best known for his role on The Good Place. Filming for The Acolyte follows the path of Andor (and the original Star Wars for that matter) in that it will be filmed in the UK. Sets are currently being built in Berkshire for shooting that is reportedly set to begin late this Fall. Based on typical timeframes of Star Wars Disney Plus series, we should not expect this series to arrive any earlier than Fall 2023.

While The Acolyte is expected to debut on Disney Plus late in 2023 (or in early 2024), no official release date or window have been provided by Disney and Lucasfilm yet.
