Lightsaber Dojo, A Star Wars VR Experience, Coming to Select Locations This December
ILMxLAB has announced that Lightsaber Dojo, an arcade-style virtual reality experience, will be coming to select pop-up locations at Simon centers and Cinemark Theatres starting December 19th. The Lightsaber Dojo experience will allow players to train with a lightsaber and the Force against waves of training droids and various creatures from Star Wars.
As part of this new experience, fans will step into pop up training dojos, created in collaboration with VR company Nomadic, to don the Oculus Quest VR headset and travel to the planet Mustafar where Darth Vader calls home. Fans will be able to choose from an assortment of lightsabers utilized by classic characters like Obi-Wan Kenobi, Mace Windu and of course Darth Vader in order to begin their training. You’ll also be able to use the Force to grab your enemies, trigger traps, and even throw your lightsaber across the room. To make things even more exciting, you’ll be able to compare your scores to other players on a national leaderboard.
According to Jose Perez III, Supervisor, Creative Development and Experience Design at ILMxLAB, “With Lightsaber Dojo you can use your lightsaber and the Force to stun, slice, and crush your enemies. That’s a dream come true for Star Wars fans — and it’s more exciting when you’re competing against your friends.”
The first six Lightsaber Dojo pop-ups will be opening in Cinemark’s Century Cinema 16 in Mountain View, CA and Century Huntington Beach and XD in Huntington Beach, CA, and Simon center locations including Ontario Mills in Ontario, CA, Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrance, CA, Grapevine Mills in Grapevine, TX, and The Mills at Jersey Gardens in Elizabeth, NJ.
Tickets will be $9.99 per person and will be available on a walk-up basis. You can find a full list of specific locations here.
