Ron Howard Shares Photo with Thandie Newton from the Han Solo Set

Ron Howard continues to work tirelessly on finishing the second Star Wars stand alone film about Han Solo, scheduled for a release in 8 months time on May 25, 2018. The director shared a new photo on Twitter with actress Thandie Newton from the set at Pinewood Studious in the UK.

Here’s Ron’s tweet:

It’s interesting that we know absolutely nothing about Newton’s character in the movie. We’ve never heard any rumors about her and we haven’t seen her in any of the leaked photos. Also the actress was not present on the cast photo, which was revealed when the production started.

It’s very easy for them to add hair extensions. Just think Qui-Gon Jinn. Liam Neeson most certainly did not have hair of that length off-set.

I was thinking this exact thing! Would be so awesome to see Rae Sloane appear on the big screen.

could be Sana Solo or Rae Sloane. on a side note i was listening to rfr earlier and the host from Chicago jimmy mac said that members of the 501st have been asked to appear at Solider Field Stadium for the Bears Vikings game on the 9th October. Trailer maybe incoming, hopefully.

Great news on Oct. 9! I think they’d get a younger actress if it was Sana that Thandie’s playing; if this is Han in his 20s we’re seeing, they wouldn’t get an almost 45 y/o in the role…

I’d be happy with either of these characters.

I just hope she’s not some CG alien that appears for 10 minutes and then disappears from the film after dishing out words of wisdom.

I think they tend to use established stars for roles that, while supporting, are involved in key scenes (quite possibly to avoid leaks from less invested supporting actors). Daniel Craig being a good example. Wasn’t he just a lowly Stromtrooper but was involved in the scene where Ray reveals her powers. Not something that LA would have wanted leaked. Just a thought…

Wouldnt it be something if we got a full length trailer for TLJ and a Han Solo teaser on the same night of the game?

So is he quite deliberately covering up the badge on her right shoulder? I reckon he’s trolling a bit there.

It looks a little like an imperial insignia but if you zoom in you’ll notice it doesn’t match any currently known faction badges.

I tell you – the Han Solo project feels so SAFE in the hands of Ron Howard! This guy has turned it around and I’m glad the “jokesters” are out of the Directing Chair.

Yup, this project that was literally entirely overhauled midway through production feels so SAFE. I’m hoping the movie turns out okay as well, but come on, this production has been a mess and it’ll be a miracle if it’s watchable at all.

Would have been a far worse result had they not overhauled it. I have faith in Lawrence Kasdan and Ron Howard.

The timing for the release of Solo is off! They have to move it back to December 2018! I mean, they have to wait until after TLJ has finished its major run before hyping up the marketing for Solo. So basically, Lucasfilm will start marketing Solo in March, we’ll get a trailer in April then BAM, they release the movie?? Doesn’t make sense…. Besides that, Thandie Newton is looking adorable as ever!

I remember when Rambo: First Blood Part II hit the big screen back in ’85. The Ivan Drago teaser trailer for Rocky IV played beforehand. The cinema crowd went fucking nuts.

Hoping we’ll get this movie’s teaser trailer with TLJ.

If it’s confirmed that the trailer will be included with TLJ, personally I would refrain from watching it beforehand on the internet, save the experience for the big screen/TLJ experience.

Thandie has a nice body too, if you’ve seen West World. Is she rocking the mom hairdo for the Solo movie?

It looks like he had the time to reshoot everything apart from the stuff filmed in other countries. Will be interesting to see if there are any obvious tonal shifts or whether the Lord/Miller influence has been completely scrubbed.
