I agree with Kristian on two counts: yes, it’s desperate but if it’s a true cameo where maybe Han see’s him from a distance, then fine. I can live with it.

I also agree that he MUST be in the Obi-Wan film. Sure, have Jabba or bounty hunters (Cad Bane?), or even the Inquisitors be the primary villain but to not have Vader in it would be an awful decision and, literally make no sense. We all assume Mustafar was the last time they met but Obi-Wan sure doesn’t look surprised like “Holy shit…Anakin!?” when they meet on the Death Star. They could have a confrontation without fighting even. Hell, they could fight too, a brief one. Vader is consumed with his hatred of Obi-Wan. He hunts for him every day of his life, so to assume the Death Star is the first time they meet is foolish.

“He hunts for him every day of his life, so to assume the Death Star is the first time they meet is foolish.”

Wrong. Vader didn’t see Obi-Wan before meeting on the Death Star because Obi-Wan was in exile; hiding. And where did you get this notion that Vader was hunting for him every day of his life? Is that from one of the comics or something or did you just make that up?

So that’s what he was doing in a bacta tank in a castle — he was bobbing for Obi-Wans.

Keep searching Darth… he ain’t in there. 😉

Literally every single comic and book involving Darth Vader ever written? He blames Obi-Wan for everything and knows he’s out there. The Emperor tells him all the time to stop searching for him and focus on some other task. It’s cool though. I can tell you’re a Star Wars noob. No shame in admitting that.

And don’t act like you fucking know it’s a fact they never crossed paths before the Death Star. In the latest Vader comic series’ he returned to Tatooine more than once, where Obi-Wan has been in exile.

“I can tell you’re a Star Wars noob. No shame in admitting that.”

Now now. Is it really necessary to bandy insults? I disagreed with you. If you can’t handle that without name calling, it’s probably time for some additional home training. But, I mean, you read the comics and probably have a 2-0 record for getting up at midnight for Force Friday so you’re probably pretty serious about Star Wars. I bet you’re hardcore, dude. Totally.

And here I go getting rather insulty. : / – Just keep this civil, my man.

“And don’t act like you fucking know it’s a fact they never crossed paths before the Death Star. In the latest Vader comic series’ he returned to Tatooine more than once, where Obi-Wan has been in exile.”

And an f-bomb for the win! – I asked because I don’t really read the comics. Didn’t you look at my post? Still, I’d imagine that Vader often thinks of Obi-Wan. He’s a walking, breathing (sort of) reminder of their confrontation. But knowing Obi-Wan is “out there” and blaming him for various things does not quite equate to him hunting for him “every day of his life”. That’s over-exaggerating.

Nah. I think that concocting a slew of matchups between Obi-Wan and Vader prior to their meeting on the Death Star would be silly. It wouldn’t make sense for Obi-Wan to leave hiding and confront Vader just to hightail it back to his hovel on Tatooine only to emerge a bit later and do it again.

Is putting HItler in an holocaust/ WW2 movie desperate? why SW fans don’t have a life? is it because of the succees of the Big Bang Theory? Darth Vader is always welcome

“why SW fans don’t have a life?”

Star Wars fans do have lives. And people with lives have hobbies. And people with hobbies like to talk about them; sometimes debate about them. You’re here, right?

but it´s simple: who doesn’t want Vader, close your eyes, and edit the scene at home. No need to suffer, life is short. It’s not a happy discussin, it´s useless criticism and whine

But putting hitler in a WWII movie is like putting Vader in rogue one, it makes sense. Putting Vader in Han Solo is like having hitler show up in a low level gangster movie which just happens to be set during the time hitler was alive. By that logic yoda and jar-jar should show up in this movie too. I mean I won’t care if Vader sends a holo-message to jabba or something, but from an artistic standpoint, you don’t want to water down the iconic villain by overusing him IMO

There are many other characters that would be more beneficial to the Han Solo movie then Vader. It makes no sense to have him in it. Jabba the Hutt makes more sense for example.

I think it’s kind of obvious that Jabba will be in it…

Well duh…my point was just Vader makes no sense. And only using Jabba as an example of what does.

I don’t know how it will tie in, if he is in the film, but if Kessel is in it, perhaps he is there, or we see him via hologram being told that there was a prisoner escape on Kessel (as it is an Imperial slave camp, right?).

So it could very well be something like that. doubt it will be as big a role as Rogue One.

Or if it shows Han at the Imperial Academy or something, Vader could make an appearance there.

never thought of that, but yeah. It literally might just be a background cameo. Or maybe some Propaganda? IDK. but i don’t think it’s gonna be like Vader and Han exchanging dialogue or anything lol

          Better not.

…maybe as a nod to Harrison Ford, they can mirror the scene when Indy meets Hitler?

that would be interesting, however, i’m wondering if Vader was as publicly known.

I have to agree with Ellis on the Snoke issue. He’s had one appearance and it’s already more screen time than the Emperor had in ‘A New Hope’. They’re trying something different with the character and we have to wait until Episode IX to see if it works.

That being said, the others do have a point about the character more easily becoming a bust because of his lack of proper presence in his first outing.

It doesn’t help toy sales that the Snoke merchandise isn’t really appealing to a non-collector like myself.
