Hmm… a rollin book!
Those vehicles are so weird! I’m not saying it in a negative way… Who knows, let’s see! I hope they erase the wheels.
Wow… that one vehicle. The one that sort of looks like a car from the 50s. It weirdly works for me. Feels sort of like what they would have designed back in the 70s about what they would have thought future/sci-fi might look like.
This is all completely ruined by the poofiness of his hair! 😛
It look a lot like the Han Solo character car that Hot Wheels made!
That’s what these leaked images have made me think: They’re actually incorporating those Star Wars Hot Wheels cars into the movies! lol
gee, Alden looks spot on. and bear in mind that in the pic he’s not even posing, just talking to crew members. the vehicles look waay cool as well. that’s SW i want to see: adventerous, creative and bold.
Isn’t that Han Solo driving the first car? Looks like same hair and waistcoat.
Love Alden acting skills and his charisma, and this project of course. Maybe I am too much perfectionist but to make an actor younger its important the constitution. Its just a photo but probably Alden is too fat to represent a younger Solo? I will not judge the final result with a photo. I will wait and see the movie with excitement. Don’t like the hair too :p but the vehicles look so so great.
Maybe it’s just baby fat. 😀
:p Exactly.
in fact, this really doesn’t bother me so much. Lots of kids and young people are fat in their adolescence and when they grow they become thin. Just surprised me that photo because in my mind i have a thinner Solo (at least in ANH). I really trust in Alden’s acting. He is really good. In “Hail Caesar!” he really stole the entire show.
I know people are saying that he needn’t look like Han, just have the essence of the character without doing an impersonation.
Imo, if he looks nothing like Han AND acts nothing like Han, not sure what else I can suspend my disbelief on.
Obviously, that may all change once we see him in motion. Still would have preferred someone who looks more like Harrison Ford, seeing how in Rogue One they went to great lengths to have Mon Mothma look like the ROTJ portrayal, and even went to the length of recreating Leia and Tarkin in cgi.
On the surface, it makes little sense why young Han does NOT follow that pattern of their own defined continuity in a film which is clearly not a reboot and meant to fit in within the framework of the other movies.
But, I am willing to eat my hat on this, so let’s see how it all unfolds.
I understand people wanting a young Han Solo to look very similar to Harrison Ford, and in an ideal world I agree that that would be great. But the reality is that LFL is working in the real world to make these movies and there is no doppleganger of HF that is 50 years younger. Given that, I can’t really be harsh on LFL for choosing an actor they feel is the best overall fit, all things considered. I had never heard of Alden before he was cast for this movie and am not familiar with his prior work at all. I’m keeping as open a mind as possible for his portrayal of Han until I see it in the theater.

Who is this guy? He looks less like Han Solo than Alden does.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwLv993khfI
He did a passable Harrison Ford impression on youtube and some people thought because he did an okay impression, that meant he had the talent to carry a film as the lead. (One of many things I hate about Star Wars fans).
Ha ha ha ha 🙂 good one 🙂
Not everyone is saying that. Star wars webs are saying that. 1/4 people are saying that. My opinion is that I will never see this guy as Han Solo 6 years younger than his ANH version, thus I won´t be in cinema to watch this movie 🙂 I hope this movie will not be a success and that Disney will try harder in picking stories or actors….
Fat? – I don’t think so. Short? – Most definitely.
Once ILM takes over those vehicles, the wheels disappear and Star Wars coat is painted on, these are going to be fantastic. 🙂
But I have seen the wheels now and that’s something that I can’t take back…the illusion is forever ruined… 🙂
The 6th picture down reminds me a little of Adam West’s Batmobile. Not necessarily a bad thing.
These photos (inc. Alden Ehrenreich) look encouraging.
my dog is more similar to han solo than alden ehrenreich
Then why are YOU whining like a B—?
His name isn’t Indiana is it?
I’m diggin’ that sleek 50’s looking vehicle.
YES.
I think this movie is pushing the envelope in terms of the look of Star Wars. I trust Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy and Disney. This could be a real treat.
Ok, that Alden pic starts to convince me of his casting as han now.
The other vehicles, theyre all great. That’s it.
I wonder if this is an official Empire vehicle
https://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Solo_07.jpg
so are they remaking american graffiti now?
EXACTLY what I wasn’t going to I say!
In SPAAAACE!
I think these are the swoop bikes.
There’s some aspects I like, and others I’m not so sure of. Idk if I’m ready to see grease with Han Solo. It all feels very mad maxish.
The silver vehicle looks like an older version of Rey’s bike though.
Hmm we will see.
So… is Han going to spend the whole movie chasing down a blonde in a white T-Bird?
Should have called the movie “Corellian Graffiti.”
Still not 100% on board, something about the retro style feels weird, but they aren’t official production stills- just random photos, so I will reserve judgement until at least a trailer
Like you said, the style looks 20 years before Phantom Menace 🙂 but it is really the style what concernes you? Not the look of Han SOlo ? 🙂
is that h jon benjamin in that one pic??
Ha ha! Archer is coming to Star Wars!!! 🙂
Uhhh…phrasing
Han: Never tell me the odds!
Bob: Oh my god…
love those vehicles
Is that old Luke with a helmet and poncho? Time traveling old Luke CONFIRMED!!!
Looks more like Zach Galifianakis to me. Star Wars / The Hangover crossover CONFIRMED!
The black one with the white stripe reminded me of the vintage Batmobile.
I can’t quite escape the feeling that Han must have had extensive plastic surgery at some point in the ten years leading up to his meeting with Luke.
Don´t forget that maybe some crime lords are after him, so this makes perfectly sense…. 🙂 and the longer mechanical legs gives him the perfect height…
That’s one mighty bouffant young Han is sporting.
The good thing about this seems to be they are going full retro, this has 70’s sci fi vibe all over it, which is good for me, but the new Han… uhm
Haha!
Aren’t you a little short to be a Han?
It is well known that Han gets mechanical legs just like Vader, at some point between this movie and ANH, that justify the height.
Totally! Ford was 6’1″ when he did the first Star Wars (I think he’s shrunk a bit in his advanced age). Alden is only 5’9″ – that’s a difference of 4″ and not insignificant. For comparison – Mark Hamill was also 5’9″ in the original Star Wars, and the height difference between him and Ford is very noticeable. I don’t know how Lord and Miller are going to account for this – maybe put him in platform shoes or stand on a box Tom Cruise style?
ALden is not 5´9″, he is 5´8″ 🙂 They will do the same as with Bogrt or Cruise. Heels, camera angles, shorter co stars, stand box…. 🙂
Ha! I was thinking cruise too.
They should just give Peter Jackson a call. He knows how do this stuff.
heels anyone? 🙂
Is it just me, or does it look like Alden’s face has taken a few punches in that photo?
At least looks a little…I dunno…puffy? It’s a less than ideal first picture of the new Han Solo.
I’m going to assume those vehicles will not actually have wheels?
Correct. 🙂
Cool. Well, those are some rad looking space hotrods, I must say – this is probably going to be an interesting movie, I can feel some 70s car movie vibes mixed with retro Sci-Fi right now.
‘Cool’ vehicles?
The vehicles look great! Holding judgement on Han till an official photo is released, but I’m confident he will fill the role.
I assume from Alden being 27 and Ford 35 during ANH being filmed its got to be 10 years before ANH?
It will take place over a six-year period (18 to 24 yo).
Alden 28 Ford 33. Never seen anyone in my life who had changed significantly between 20 and 30. THe face was always there. ANH Han Solo was 30 y.o. Alden is 1/2 feet shorter then Ford and his face in the slightest doesn´t resemble Ford….not mention that 3/4 of fans through the internet prefer Obi-Wan movie, old Republic movie or anythng els than Han Solo origin.
Surgery – Han suffered a terrible accident and required extensive bacta treatment and reconstructive surgery. The side-effect to the amount of bacta treatment was he grew in height.
Not sure on the fact that 3/4 of fans don’t want a Solo film, it doesn’t seem that way. Plus non-Star Wars fans, the more casual filmgoer would identify with Han Solo way more than any other film, even a Kenobi film.
“…ot mention that 3/4 of fans through the internet prefer Obi-Wan movie, old Republic movie or anythng els than Han Solo origin….”
There’s absolutely no way to substantiate that.
Last time I’m visiting this site. Your stupid ads keep scrolling the page up, then down, then up , then down. I can’t read or even focus on a picture. Sucks.
We are trying to figure out which ad is causing this. Are you having this issue on desktop or on mobile/tablet?
desktop
Is it an ad that is inside the article or something in our sidebars? Thanks for the feedback, it helps a lot.
I been having this problem awhile now on both formats. I’d be done with this site by now if you didn’t have the best content regarding spoilers out there but I issues like this are probably beyond your control. I blame the admen.
I can kill the ad if I get more info from you guys. It is strange that you have this issue on both formats since we have a completely different layout and ads on mobile/tablet.
Do you get this issue only on home page or only inside articles? Is it happening all the time?
“…I’d be done with this site by now…”
One can only hope…
PEBKAC, princess. Check your browser settings – and fare thee well!
Which browser setting do you think might be causing this?
At a guess, could be funky extensions or a ‘settings’ issue (in Firefox, you can go into advanced settings & disable auto-scrolling, for example…)
It’s not my browser settings. It’s ad format driven.
I like the military / industrial look of the vehicles. Will help give the film the “lived in” look of the OT, rather than the overly polished look of the PT.
I think understand now, it seems like LF (since Disney) have the new rule that vehicles and ships design must be ugly or copied from another classic design.
I believe this is of course in purpose, in this movie, maybe in that system all stuff looks like that, and we will see other kind of vehicles too.
The one that I find a bit interesting is the batmobile-like, I see potential but still a bit uggly.
I dunno, I think LFL has had their design issues for quite awhile.
I still cringe when I see those ridiculous Jedi starfighter designs from ROTS, for example. Those things have always looked like ass to me, and IMHO they make no sense whatsoever from a functional design standpoint. But there we are.
I’ll admit, though, I’m not over the moon about these vehicle designs we’re seeing here for the upcoming Non-Solo flick. I get that the wheels are probably intended to be CGI’ed out during post-production, but they still look a bit wonky, IMHO.
The banged-up, lived-in look, though… that was one of the signature “looks” of Star Wars going right back to the beginning. I’m glad to see that they’ve gotten back to it.
I have the impression that they are missundertanding a little the concept, as if they have 3 basic rules for design “rusty”, “square” and “must look like the OT” and they get lost there, they are limited in some way.
I think the design for the jedi starfighters in ROTS is beautifull, the Eta-2, is one of the best designs IMO, and I can see that this design eventually may evolve in to a TIE fighter, or at least the designs are related in a very close way.
With this in mind, for me, I find really cool the idea of having the Tie-striker from RO being a mix between the Tie-fighter and the Eta-2, you can see the similarities in the shape, I think it was a missed oportunity to connect even more the styles. I find the striker design very lazy, one of the laziest designs in my opinion, just an enlarged Tie-fighter cockpit with no effort in make it a bit variation, just a bit , because of the different length, I dont know.
Anyway, I hope we will see some interenting designs in the new movies comming.
Star Wars (both PT and OT) has always been filled with vehicles that make little to no sense from a functional design standpoint. The main criteria has always been the coolness factor. Look at the TIE fighter. Pilot has no visibility except for what’s directly in front of him, and are we supposed to believe those “solar panel” wings provide any significant power? Maybe if there’s a water heater on board. But it looks bad ass. How about the Imperial Shuttle from ROTJ? It looks regal and elegant and I’ve always loved it, but what purpose do those giant folding wings and huge dorsal fin serve on a SPACE craft? The “it flies through the atmosphere too” argument doesn’t hold water because we’ve seen ships like the Falcon and even freakin’ Star Destroyers fly in atmospheres without wings. It’s just for looks – pure and simple. And perhaps the biggest offender (and also one of my all time favorites) is the Walkers. So they have hovering vehicle technology – but instead of building a giant hover-tank/troop carrier that can truly be “all terrain” and go anywhere, the Empire decides to build giant walking dinosaurs that my grandma can outrun in her wheelchair? And they also appear to get tripped up fairly easily. But that whole Hoth sequence in Empire was AMAZING and they looked cool as hell.
Anyway, I think Star Wars is the wrong franchise to get hung up on scientific/engineering feasibility. It’s more fantasy than science fiction. I don’t like every design we’ve seen in the movies, but I can’t use the argument of “it makes no sense” as a reason. Otherwise, I’d be a hypocrite because most if not all of the designs that I do love are also illogical.
This post. This post all day.
Star Wars vehicles are supposed to look beat up, ugly and with boilerplate construction.
Beat up, yes, ugly, not necessarily. You have a lot of beated up look designs in the post CW era, but not uggly IMO, at least not the majority.
Haha, NOPE.
Wow, great counter-argument. Take a look at all the classic ships. They were all designed as I described.
Actually, the used-universe look was something that Lucas was pretty adamant about. I thought everyone knew this.
It’s just the hotrod look, and I personally love it.
I suspect some of these will have CG additions. We may be seeing only the cockpit.
So, the Southampton location is most likely some kind of Imperial structure. A younger Han Solo posted there perhaps.
Is any one else getting a 50’s-esk speeder race vibe from these set pics? The fact that there are so many which abiously aren’t CGI leads me to believe they aren’t just background vehicles for a city.
Maybe it’s a tribute to American Graffiti.
I hope they at least have 1 starwars planet that is from the expanded universe and has never been shown in a movie. I hope Nar Shaddaa and Corellia appear in this movie.
Bets on an official pic of Alden in costume being released hot on the heels of this? I’m not sure that’s the first look LFL would have wanted.
Do you think they will make adjustments to his nose, chin, give him six inch heels? Maybe…..maybe….
Whoa!! Love these vehicles.
Looks NOTHING like Han Solo.
I ADORE the vehicles.
You need a check-up from the neck up.
Because he likes something that you don’t?
http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/000/614/631/54b.gif
hope they’re gonna CGI out all those wheels
He looks kinda bloated to be a young Ford. Hope they CG his face or something. I given up on him looking anything remotely like Han Solo of the OT but I hope he gets his voice down at least.
I don’t mind the 50’s look since the PT had plenty of that too and Ford would have come of age then too.
I agree. He looks nothing like Harrison Ford. He looks more like Anakin from Ep. III, what with the longer, wavey hair and scarred face.
My god what an awful young Han tis is….he looks nothing like the A new Hope Han plus he is so short….I´m sorry if I offended anyone here….but this is just bad….
Hahahahahaha, EXACTLY!!!!! 🙂
So many bitches in this thread. I say patience. Reserve judgment for when the movie is released. He’s going to do the role well. Licasfilm know how important Han Solo is to fans.
They’ll complain and complain and complain. Then they’ll go see the movie. Most of them will see it more than once. The majority of them will probably like it. Then they’ll return here and talk about how awful it was.
This is a movie that never should have been made.
Not even for TV.
