Star Tours Will Get Episode VIII Expansion as Star Wars Land Develops.

After a long period of quietness, we have a little bit of an update on the progress of Star Wars Land’s construction and the announcement for additional content for the Star Tours attraction, alongside a new image showing what the park should look like at night (shown above).

From the official Disney D23 website:

The creative minds at Walt Disney Imagineering are hard at work creating another world, or perhaps we should say a galaxy far, far, away…As Bob told D23, “We’re challenging ourselves to be as ambitious as possible with the development of the Star Wars-themed lands. We know the playbook in terms of how to make a ‘land’ and how to make an attraction. But incumbent with moving forward, is challenging ourselves to make it bigger and better than even sometimes we could have dreamed. I think the key word for me for the Star Wars lands that will distinguish them from everything else, with the unbelievable attractions we’re going to have, is the word ‘immersive.’” Disney fans feel that immersion when entering a land like Cars Land, but Bob feels the new Star Wars-themed lands will take that one step further: “Every element of that land will be in story.”

Destination D guests were the first to see what the Star Wars-themed land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will look like at night in the stunning image seen above. A sharp-eyed Star Wars fan will notice the distinct details that will bring this land to life, including one of the signature attractions that lets you take the controls of the Millennium Falcon. While we wait for this unbelievable land to arrive in this galaxy, Bob also shared that a new adventure will be added to Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, based on elements of the upcoming Star Wars: Episode 8.

The theme park is still years away from completion, but it’s definitely good to hear that Episode VIII is going to be a part of the plan for future expansions to Star Tours. It sounds like Rogue One and the other spin-offs might not be so lucky, though, but that’s a small price to pay if it means that we’ll be getting more Star Wars content represented at Disneyland and Disney World.

Both of the Universal parks beat Disney hands down. Let’s hope Disney borrow a few ideas from them, the Harry Potter stuff is amazing, surely Disney can rival that!?!

I disagree. Universal has the paid fast pass (rip off) and if you aren’t into thrill rides, less for you to do. Disney has more diversity of experiences spread across all the parks. The Harry Potter stuff is good, but only good once every few years. I used to go to disney twice a month.

To each their own. The Harry Potter stuff is absolutely fantastic — the rest, aside from maybe the Transformers ride, feels stale to me.

I still think the park is modeled after the Episode VIII set in Coratia. It looks really cool.
