Japanese & South Korean Star Wars: Rogue One Posters Released.
As we begin to enter the home stretch on the marketing for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the official Star Wars Twitter account just released two international posters advertising the movie in Asia which show off Jyn Erso and the other Rogues.
First comes the one for Japan – a Jyn Erso character poster of her standing on an eerily tranquil beach on Scarif while the Death Star looms above in the background:
And second comes the poster for Korea – a retro-looking group shot in an environment reminiscent of the Imperial Base that we see Jyn Erso infiltrating at the end of the teaser trailer:
It’s readily apparent that, aside from the brief shot of Darth Vader in the Olympics trailer, Lucasfilm is holding back on advertising the character’s presence in the film until later into their ad campaign – perhaps not until the final trailer hits. This is a move which could pay off in a big way if they capitalize on his supporting role; the character is more or less the face of the Star Wars franchise, and should prove to be important in getting casual audiences to see the movie. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on more Rogue One news as it breaks, so watch this space.
Grant has been a fan of Star Wars for as long as he can remember, having seen every movie on the big screen. When he’s not hard at work with his college studies, he keeps himself busy by reporting on all kinds of Star Wars news for SWNN and general movie news on the sister site, Movie News Net. He served as a frequent commentator on SWNN’s The Resistance Broadcast.
The Korean one is nice, but the Japanese one is an ugly photoshop job.
If anything, it’s the Korean version that looks like a bad Photoshop job.
They’re both bad, but I think the Japanese one is worse.
I think the Korean one doesn’t look for realism, it’s like the poster of Moon, more conceptual. The Japanese one should be treated as a real image, but all the elements appear unbalanced, as if they dropped of the items on the photoshop canvas but no adjustment was done.
Did you guys hear about the Composer switch? Apparently Michael Giacchino is taking over. I’ll wait a bit longer for more reports on the matter.
Thanks for the heads up! Here’s the Hollywood Reporter “exclusive” story that apparently just broke within the last hour. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/star-wars-rogue-one-replaces-929387
seen your message, thanks for the heads up…. 🙂
They both look like cheap Photoshop jobs. Weird.
The black one looks terrible, just some sort of shadow on the lights at the sides would have helped it no end
There will be ANOTHER TRAILER?! I don’t want more. We don’t need more
I hope not. I like the mystery they have built up. 🙂
That’s the typical plan with most movies – release a teaser, a trailer, and another trailer. The last one is important to Disney with their event films because it usually coincides with the day that ticket presales go up, and if those are high, then their movies will make a lot of money directly off of their promotion.

But with TFA there was one teaser one year before the release, which didn’t happen to Rogue One, one in April, The same way Rogue one had its first teaser, and finally one in October, which I thought in Rogue One’s case it would have been the August trailer equivalent.
Makes sense that they will take another aproach with this movie. But I truly thought The trailers were done. I’m still skeptical there will be one
The Death Star is so beautiful.. damn rebels.
