    Awesome. They frigging nailed it here. MaRey Sue – my new favorite term.

      How predictable.

        What, that you’re following me around again? Oh, or that I found the MaRey Sue thing apt? Come on, the character,as she stands in TFA, is a giant Mary Sue, and they nailed the writing to the wall here – speaks every language, is the best fighter, best pilot, best mechanic, auto-force wielder, and everyone loves her unconditionally for no particular reason, oh, and knows the Falcon batter than Han. Fuck that, it’s a boring, boring setup for a character. She HAS to be given some faults and some chances to fail in the next film or she’s a complete write off, Ridley’s engaging performance notwithstanding.

          You do realize that she is a mechanic/scavenger who has been in all of those Jakku ships and has to know those languages in order to communicate, right? This “Mary Sue” thing can be refuted in half a second just through the fact that she grew up around Niima Outpost. But you don’t have time to pay attention to those pesky “plot details”. TFA is terrible and that’s all that matter. smh

            just cos she is a scavenger doesn’t mean she is an engineer, As a scavenger all she did was take scrap metal apart and clean it

            And then put it back together, sell it, use it, make a house, and create a flight simulator.

    How dare they not answer every question in the first movie of the “trilogy”

      I don’t think the trailer implies it’s a negative thing, but the movie is really filled with mystery (more than any other Star Wars film we’ve seen, considering the prequels a Story we already knew).

        It’s a negative. It’s more specifically, a comment on JJ Abrams. He enjoys setting up questions, but never, NEVER executes a satisfying payoff.

          TRILOGY. Three-act structure. Come on, you understand this, don’t you?

    Great trailer…had me at butthole eyes…unfortunately though, now I can’t unhear that and Maz’s character will forever be tainted in my future viewings of TFA. lol

      I thought it was funny, because I watching the movie at home for the first time, and paused it. I was like, man those really look like butt holes

    This is just a nit pick, but it bugs me that they put the “on” switch to the lightsaber on the top instead of on the blocky thing where it has always been.

      That was an honest mistake in production, but I still get annoyed by it when I watch that scene.

    In my first view of TFA at cinema i thought exactly the same about Maz’s eyes! Every time i see the movie (6 times at the date) i can’t pass to look what surrounds those eyes. Same eyes in different people…? 😉 Jesus…

    It just dawned on me, but with Disney shilling out movies every year, there is no point in buying a Star Wars Box set anymore.

    The 2011 Blu ray box set will probably be the last time I’ll ever do that

      I’m guessing they’ll take a break after every trilogy – probably 2 or so years. The bonus features are what will inevitably get you to buy the set.

      Physical media will be obsolete before the end of this trilogy anyways…

    Diet Speilburg, Genius! The DK book sorta explains why it’s called The Force Awakens but it’s kind of vague too. It really should have been explained in the film since all the other SW titles are pretty self-explanatory after you see the movie but TFA is not as clear in that regard.

      The Force awakens in Rey. She uses the Force in her battle with Kylo.

        That’s one meaning but other than Clones/Empire they all always have multiple ones….

        TPM = Sidious, Maul, Anakin

        ROTS = Sidious/Vader

        ANH = The twins, rebellion

        ROTJ = Anakin, Luke

        Plus Snoke talks about who doesn’t know about Rey and the book says that the force went dormant after Jedi till it awoke in VII. Not really clear about that but I figure it was due to the force being balanced.

      One of my few criticisms of The Force Awakens is the title. I like it enough, but it didn’t seem to fit with an established theme (whether intentional or not) of the other two trilogies. The first movie of both the OT and PT had titles that referenced a specific individual. The second and third movie titles in each trilogy were titled after the movie’s major event. I would have liked to have seen this continue. Ah well. Movie ruled. It’s all good.

        I always thought it referred to Rey even if it wasn’t implicitly stated. I’m guessing the next one will have Order in it and Knight for the final one.

          I did too. But The Phantom Menace and A New Hope are both noun phrases while the others are verb phrases. The Force Awakens is a verb phrase. I guess it’s that sort of thing that might annoy only English majors.

            That’s a good point but I guess it can be seen as an allegorical title. It could even refer to Luke too seeing a how he is the basis if the opening crawl. I’ve never heard anyone comment on it yet from the film which is a first for a SW film.

    This trailer seems generally well balanced. It brings up valid criticism of the movie while still admitting that it’s friggin’ awesome. And Mr. Plinkett’s cameo was amazing. I’m gonna go comment on his webzone and get a pizza roll.

      I’m still waiting for a Plinkett review of TFA. I watched Half in the Bag review, and that was good, but I think it really deserves the full Plinkett treatment.

        Plinkett tends to do terrible movies, so TFA might be difficult. However, I believe that the RLM YT channel teased the TFA review earlier, so maybe. It might just end up being an ironically hilarious TPM Review rehash.

        “Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the BEST thing since my piza rooll machine. But while my pizza roll machine broke down from me fucking it too hard, the great thing about The Force Awakens is that it will never go away. It can never be undone.”
