Adam Driver is Anxious to get on the Star Wars: Episode VIII Set
Adam Driver was attending a special screening of Midnight Special on Monday night. During the event, while speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the actor briefly talked about how his life changed after his role in TFA, and expressed Star Wars debutdropped several tiny hints at the story of Star Wars: Episode VIII…

“Their temperaments are different,” Driver said when asked to compare the two filmmakers. “I feel like there was so many moving pieces in the first one – just trying to solve it and set the vocabulary for what it was. There’s a lot of that anxiety is gone, because people have developed a language. I think it’s more of a testament to Rian coming into something very established and making it [his own]. I can’t wait to get on set, just because he’s so unassuming and intelligent and approachable. The script they’ve come up with is really great.”
On how his life changed after TFA:
“I didn’t turn into a new person,” he said of life post-Force Awakens, which grossed more than $2 billion around the world. “Nothing happened to me. But a lot of people saw it, and that was good. I guess my Christmas is kind of easier now – the toys and things for family. Kids is a big thing: I feel like before parents kept me away from their kids; now it’s like, go get a picture.”

Yep. He had the best character arc in 7, I really want to see him evolve, understand more his motivations, and see him become even more of a badass.

They sacrificed Han Solo to build his character, that is a heavy background already.
How long were they filming in Abu Dhabi in EP7? He didn’t go do that shoot either, nor the Green Common one despite people thinking he was on the X Wing pilots there in a blurry leaked photo. His Jakku village scenes were shot on the Pinewood backlot.

They better make Kylo Ren badass in 8. His character deserves better than what Jar Jar Abrams gave him.
You just want a Maul character who looks cool and does some cool stunts. Kylo Ren’s character is going through an real arc. In Ep8 we will probably find out why he was so conflicted. Personally he is my new favorite character in the entire saga
he is a great character. If the rumors about Leia are correct I am curious to see how he reacts. I want to, and think the series needs a moment between Kylo and Leia. If Leia is wounded and Kylo didn’t know she was on the ship or something, what a great moment for Kylo as a character, such conflict.
Just a heads-up: whether you hated TFA or not, the term “Jar Jar Abrams” is so tired, unimaginative, cliche and downright stupid that there should be some kind of moratorium placed on it.
Yes and it was proven to not be true to most people. This film got very good reviews from most people. About 90 percent good reviews.

Yea, watching the video it sure sounds like he meant “Can’t wait to get to set EACH DAY”.

wasn’t adam driver spotted in london right before they started shooting, along with the other actors? he has the hair for kylo ren at the moment, he’s definitely in the middle of filming. based on my interpretation of TFA, kylo ren will have an even bigger role in episode VIII
I think the interviews they aren’t going to give away where or when they are shooting. But evidence always says so the contrary. LIke Ridley saying so before and then suddenly her stunt double is magically spotted going to Croatia, the deleted tweet, et. al.

Good, because otherwise with that inaccurate bit of info that Adam has not yet started filming (which is NOT true) which you had earlier, everybody will be freaking out and making speculations how Kylo Ren will have a total of 5min and Luke 2min screen time, how Leia will die, and the rest of the movie will be about BB8, Poe and Finn’s budding love triangle, and how Laura Dern is Rey’s mother and Del Toro is her sith uncle….

How many total mins did he have in EP7? If you edit all his scenes. I think Darth Vader had less than 10 mins in the 2 hour A New Hope.

Even though we know next to nothing about this film yet, It’s almost safe to say that from the direction they are heading in it will be nothing like Empire aside from the heroes being on the run and a Jedi being trained on a hidden planet.
Though if they had to use one idea from V, I wouldn’t mind seeing some new bounty hunters as we have not seen any since II.

They can’t. You can’t murder Han fucking Solo in cold blood and get redemption. Nameless toddlers? Sure. Your former master in a duel? Sure. Your dad, the coolest character in the entire galaxy, by deceiving him? Ren BETTER not get redemption.

That´s a script challenge!
In the broad-strokes kind of archetypal storytelling these films indulge in, Ren CAN’T have redemption. He can’t. I just cannot see a satisfying way of doing that. In fact, getting way ahead of ourselves with two films to go, I think he’s been deliberately set up to have an opposing arc to Anakin, who he idolizes. Ben, the special kid everyone expected so much from, will fall to the dark-side, fighting the pull back to the light, until Rey, the ‘no one’ is forced to destroy him.
It seems you know already the ending of the trilogy.
I can share your argument because it is what I said in the begining and it is totally possible, but I am not totally agree.
Fate is not written, for character or plot.
New characters are coming, and old are starting their role in the trilogy, the balance can change, and we still don´t know how.
Nobody knows better Ben Solo than Leia, and she though/desired he could com back.

Who here thinks that Kylo Ren is going to have a drastic change in his appearance? (other than his rad new scar), I would love to see the return of the helmet but they have talked a lot about this guy being on the road to a fully developed villain so who knows
Absolutely.
Driver in many interviews said that Kylo`s costume and even the lightsaber itself is a metaphor for the character – raw, unpolished….
Kylo is going to grow, mature. His costume and look should reflect it.
I think he lost the helmet and probably the lightsaber, although may be is the usual Ren Knight helmet so easy to get a new one, the scar, injured in his hop or leg by Chew, who knows if permanently.
They made an iconic villain in Kylo, and that seems easy, but Vader is as iconic or even more than Vito Corleone played by Marlon Brandon the most famous actor of its time in the best movie of the 70s decade. Using only a mask, black clothes, a japanese helmet, mechanical respirator sound and a strong voice actor.
Any movie would love to achieve someone as iconic as Vader.
Yes he’ll definitely come back looking different, I think even more Vader like as we can assume he has been pushed even closer to the dark side. He lost the helmet and sabre so will probably be back with updated versions of both

He’s already filmed scenes IMO. Didn’t driver film the very first scene(either fight with Rey or Poe interrogation I believe) and also the very last scene(The Knights of Ren flashback) in TFA?? I’m sure he’s been busy on set.
To answer this question: watch Adam on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert – Tuesday the 29th of March. He says ‘we’re right in the middle of filming at the moment’.
