Great job guys. In regards to your discussion circa 20 minutes in about Star Wars water battles, I do want to point out that ROTS had battle scenes on a beach on the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk (however minimal) and the Clone Wars (season 4 I believe) had an entire story arc involving an under water battle on Mon Calamari. But it would be cool to see a full scale beach/naval battle in the Rebellion against the Empire era on film.

I am looking forward to future crossover Resistance podcast featuring other podcasters such as FullOfSith.com and MakingStarWars.net. I notice that Manabyte is back on MSW and would make for a wonderful guest!

I like the idea of the flashback as long as it makes sense in the story, which I am confident it will. If this information is correct, the idea that they will digitally de-age Mark Hamill seems more likely than ever given that the Luke figure from Bespin that will be released on Force Friday and the character images of young Luke on all of the new toy packaging are obviously in his likeness and not some new incarnation.

Im afraid to listen, the first episode nearly made my ears bleed listening to you. Its a shame too, since you made some very insightful and interesting points. But thats the trouble with podcasts; the fundamental elements of broadcast journalism are lost…

Ha! Well rest assured, I am not on this episode so your precious eardrums are safe for this week.

I was going to make an effort to tone it down a bit on my next appearance since I was not aware I was doing it (overcompensation for a monotone voice I suppose), but seeing as I have made such on impact on nice folks like yourself, maybe I’ll go the other way and amp it up even more. Making ears bleed seems like a pretty cool super power, so I’m thinking I’ll make it my thing. If I raise the pitch a bit more and put some more force behind it maybe I can get to full fledged head explosions.

If your goal is to push listeners away, by all means… And to the poster who said too much was made of it? The fact that Rebos awkward, off-putting, low-to-high pitch modulation was mentioned by MULTIPLE people says it all. No offense, but if your monotone voice causes such annoying overcompensation, maybe you should stick to print, just a suggestion.

You are acting like an entitled prick. These guys are sharing this with us and all you can do is complain…If it bothers you, don’t listen. They don’t owe you shit.

…and multiple people saying it doesn’t justify it. There are a lot of assholes in this world, and a lot of people with no class.

So wait let me get this straight. You don’t actually have “confirmation” of a flashback sequence in TFA? That is just something you heard from a “friend”? Honestly, I’m kinda disappointed by what I listened to (33 minutes-40 minutes). It sounded like you were all just speculating. I want some facts and confirmation on these things. If I wanted to listen to a bunch of guys on Soundcloud ramble on and speculate about plot points I would just go nerd out with my friends.

Nothing is 100% confirmed until the movie is out. Your arrogance about your “facts” and spoilers is sad. If I wanted to go to a site where people were full of shit and talked down to their audience I’d go to MSW.

There is what we are reporting as fact and what was our speculation. The distinction between the two wasn’t clear in the podcast so I’m taking to the time to point out what we were actually saying is happening for sure.

Psychometry is a type of psychic ability that’s been around for ages and not created for SW Universe. The book by Stephen King called Dead Zone is based on this ability.

I’m not debating if psychic powers are real or not just letting you know the facts https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychometry_%28paranormal%29

I know I am well aware and I am pretty sure the others are well aware that psychometry isn’t a something invented by Star Wars. I suppose it sounds like we are giving Star Wars credit for inventing it but we were just referencing cases of it in Star Wars canon

No worries, it did sound like you were referencing a force-specific ability but all is good. Keep up the good work!

Hey guys. Great podcast again, it’s fun.

    SPOILERS

I kinda like the idea of the Knights of Ren as you guys talked about. But the movie has to make one thing clear. The Knights are WRONG. If the force becomes some mishmash of grays. I am seriously done with the franchise. The force is supposed to be mostly based in eastern philosophy. “Balance” is what is good, and having a bunch of powerhungry maniacs running around is not good.

The reason the jedi really fell in the Clone Wars is because they were dragged away from the light side of the force, into the fog of war so to speak. That is why during the Prequel trilogy there’s so much talk about the force and the future being clouded.

Don’t drag Star Wars into the mishmash. At least not the force. Keep the jedi pure and good and show us the bad guys being bad guys. No need to mess with the core formula like that. The movies and shows showing good guys doing bad stuff are a dime-a-dozen. I want Star Wars to be different, or at least the force.

I feel Rogue One would be a better place to explore those shades of gray in the universe, with the lack of force users. And well, the setting being in the middle of the fog of war.

    END SPOILERS

I hope the falseness of the KoR philosophy is made clear as well. The issues of the Sith creating imbalance were not addressed clearly enough in the PT which leads to confusion among fans today.

Yeah..a lot of fans still think bringing balance to the force means an equal number of Jedi and Sith. 🙂

Good to see that I am not the only one who feels this way. I can be a hardliner when it comes to Jedi/Force Philosophy.

The theory sounds like an interesting villain origin. The whole chaotic neutral religious nuts going fun dark side. Something we haven’t seen yet. At first maybe even innocent and harmless. And then ending up as… well look at how ruthless Kylo looks.

Really good complaints, everybody. I’m not a fan of Star Wars, per se, I just enjoy it when people whine about the quality of a gift. Verrry cool.

Thanks for the podcast. Really looking forward to the new films.

I like JJ Abrams and think he was a good choice for this franchise. His work on the new Star Trek films breathed new life into what was becoming a pretty tired brand, and I have high hopes that he will generate new excitement for the Star Wars series as well.

But I have noticed a tendency (in his past projects, at least) to build a lot of mystery and intrigue around a plot line, only to offer no clear resolution. I’m thinking primarily about his TV work. ‘LOST’ was AMAZING when it first started, but began to derail the more the plot unfolded. I actually felt the same way about ‘Felicity’ and certain aspects of some of his films.

I sincerely hope that the relative simplicity of the SW mythology does not become over-complicated with new twists and revelations that fundamentally alter major characters and themes. I think that is one of the reasons the Prequel Trilogy is not held in the same esteem as the Originals by many fans.

Lucas did an admiral job trying to provide a context that enhanced our understanding of the Originals, but I think the PT diluted more than enhanced the magic of those early films. I am a little worried that, given some of these new revelations about the Knights of Ren and the complicated relationship they seem to share with the Jedi and the Sith, it could muddy up the waters a little too much.

I get that this is supposed to expand our understanding of the SW Universe and the way the Force works, but if there is not a clear end-game as to where this new direction takes the series, it could end up creating a Pandora’s Box of plot holes and ambiguity.

Anyway, at the end of the day I am grateful to see fresh ideas and new faces in a series I have loved since I was a kid. And I realize that much of what we know is still speculation at this early stage. Fingers crossed for December 18th!

I’d just like to add that I think Kathleen Kennedy and Lawrence Kasdan’s involvement will keep this franchise grounded. I have confidence that they will be good custodians of the Star Wars legacy and keep things from getting too far off-track.
