Star Wars: The Force Awakens Second Teaser Has 200 Million Views Across All Platforms!

Poe DameronDisney’s CEO Bob Iger has made a statement that the second teaser for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens has been seen over 200 million times – all in under a month of the release of the footage.

In addition to the 88 million views given to the second teaser in the first 24 hours alone, the views for the teaser have hit the nine-digit mark and are still rising. When asked about the business plans and the future of the Star Wars franchise by CNN, Bob Iger said the following.

We are managing all of this with great care. I think we’ve got something here that is very, very special that’s going to create value for the company for many, many years to come.

And here are some more bits from Iger that he shared during a conference call to discuss quarterly earnings. (via TheHollywoodReporter):

“Generally speaking, you’re going to see us release, in a very careful way, certain elements of the film as part of a carefully designed marketing plan as we get much closer to the film,”

“This is already a very strong franchise, but a film has not been released in 10 years,” said Iger. “We’re not treating this as something that is brand new. We’re mindful of the fact that there’s a whole generation of people out there that were not as steeped in the Star Wars lore and not as in love with the franchise as an older generation.”

“With these channels and these brands — ESPN, ABC, Disney, maybe even down the road something related to Star Wars and Marvel — we do have the ability as a company to take product, specifically filmed entertainment, telvision, movies, directly to consumers, and we got some development underway to do just that,” he said.

And speaking about numbers, Electronic Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen announced on Tuesday, that they expect the game Star Wars: Battlefront to sell at least 9-10 million copies.

Pretty impressive! The game launches on November 17, for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. (via Gamespot)

Well marketing’s all well and good, but I sure hope they don’t give us AS much info as Terminator did [twice].
The fact that they’re letting out Driver’s look this early worries me,
Will there be any movie left to see by December?

      LOL.

Who says that the reveal of Driver’s look is essential to the story? If it’s something that we find out in the opening scene of the film then there’s no reason for them to try and keep it from us. All of the marvel films have been marketed very well. Everything they release is intentional. 6 months ago a lot of people were complaining that they hadn’t shown anything.

You’ve seen about 2 and a half minutes of footage and a dude’s face. Is that what a movie is for you?

        December is 7 months away.

They just released what the villain looks like, so yes, we should be worried.
        That’s SEVEN MONTHS guys.

It may not seem like they’re giving out much now, but I guarantee that even people who stay off the internet are going to have a pretty good idea of what the film’s 1st and 2nd act are, and the 3rd act will be easily predicted.

        Yes, I’m afraid, very afraid.

      Driver’s look early?
If anything Driver is probably pissed about all the other principles getting attention/interviews while he’s been all but
      pushed to the background.

I’m just glad to know battlefront releases on the same date for PS4 as it does for xbox one. I guess my assumption was right…that the CEO of xbox was just saying you should play it first on XBOX one. Probably to create some buzz.

Oh My! first comment towards a post weeeeeeeee! 200 million views Wow! Nice one! Hey how about a new teaser then JJ keep them coming I mean, what’s another 120 seconds of footage from what I am hopeful for, a cool and lengthy movie around two n half hours Perfect! It will only serve you well to spoil us JJ, like no other movie has ever marketed and Hey! then I can re-edit, join them all together, have my own force awakens experience streaming from my 42″ plasma, Ummmm! trailers in 3D please hahaha I have to say and considering statistics have been derived from on line activity, as far as viewing is concerned, 200 million would be ridiculously under estimated lol. just saying!

Who would have thought? Disney actually shows some Star Wars footage and people will see it.

I guess if it works for Marvel it should work for Star Wars too, right Disney?

      Sheesh.

Your nostalgic energy is just potential value for Disney shareholders. This is why none of these new films will ever be great cinema.

I have a slight suspicion, that Driver, is actually a decoy in the movie. And Gleeson, is truly the ‘masked’ Kylo Ren. Kylo Ren ‘could’ be Driver’s ACTUAL character name. A political figure, of sorts. But not the force wielding Sith Apprentice, that I suspect Gleeson is. Uncertain why I have this thought, would make sense though.

After watching Mike Verta’s vimeo clips detailing his restoration of Star Wars, I really hope Abrams doesn’t color grade the film too dark and desaturated.

The trailers have excellent color, but I’d have to play with those those lake shots for example to see if the sunlight wouldn’t look nice a smidge brighter. Meh, looks pretty good. The gritty desaturated look seen in many modern films can actually be distracting, and it tends to come in and out of fashion. Just keep it to a nice even color/brightness for a timeless look…

Well, I just checked again and I’m pretty much fine with the brightness levels. I was going to edit my comment but I forfeited my time to edit when I switched tabs apparently.

Here’s hoping the Blu-ray doesn’t come out all dark and Magenta like the OT…

Anyone see the Avengers in IMAX 3D? They showed TFA trailer in 3D before the film. Amazing stuff. I almost cried…again…lol. I was on the fence about my first viewing being in 3D and I am now convinced. I’ll probably see it in IMAX 3D first (about an hour away from home), then check it out multiple other times in 2D at my hometown theater.

OK I thought of another comment. 🙂

If they release another teaser before December I MIGHT watch it, but if it’s any longer than a teaser, I won’t. In fact I’m pretty sure I won’t even watch a teaser, heh. Terminator taught me a valuable lesson.

Already feel too in the know, and I haven’t even read a lot of the spoilers/rumors. Who else feels like taking a break in order to maximize the film experience?

“With these channels and these brands — ESPN, ABC, Disney, maybe even down the road something related to Star Wars and Marvel…” I sincerely hope he isn’t hinting at a crossover between Star Wars and Marvel here.

If Disney thinks that such a thing would be profitable, they will do it. Once they have drained the milk out of their Star Wars and Marvel cows, watch out for Han Solo versus Iron Man. My guess would be around 2025.
