Help a Youngling in Need! Donate to the Care For Elise Fund

Obi Wan Kenobi with baby Luke on Tatooine

Friends, I hope you don’t mind, but we’d like to take a momentary break from the latest Star Wars news in order to reach out to you about a rather more serious matter. It’s come to our attention that a member of the production crew from Star Wars: The Force Awakens has a little girl who could use a little of our community’s mojo right about now.

More after the jump.

We just received the following message on our Facebook page from a fellow Star Wars fan named Brad Kelly, and we felt that it was worthy of bringing to everyone’s attention:

A very good friend of mine really needs your help. His daughter who is coming up to only 5 months old has been diagnosed Cerebral Palsy after a viral infection basically ate 80% of her little brain.

My friend worked on the new Star Wars VII movie helping construct the sets and is now giving away his Cast and Crew gifts given to each actor, cast and crew member on wrap.

These items are irreplaceable as so limited but he realises his daughters health is far more important and so created a mega giveaway of his Star Wars VII cast and crew gifts for all Star Wars fans to participate in.

Please check out www.careforelise.com because I’m basically contacting you to see if you would be kind enough to tell all your followers about this giveaway as your help with this issue is very much greatly appreciated.

Hopefully with your help we can Awaken the Force within little Elise.

Elise

Please take a few minutes if you would, and go check out Elise’s site. You’ll learn a little more about what she and her parents are facing, and there is a link there that explains the Star Wars VII cast and crew gift giveaway. To cut right to the chase, if you make a donation to the Care For Elise fund, you will be entered into a drawing for this lot of limited-edition Star Wars items. They include:

1. Cast & Crew “VII” Cap
2. Cast & Crew “VII” Jacket – Size XL
3. Cast & Crew Gift Bag
4. Cast & Crew Lanyard

Hopefully, Brad has been spreading the word of little Elise’s plight throughout the Star Wars online community so that we can all pull together for a common (and very worthy) cause. Elise and her family have a very difficult road ahead of them. The prognosis from doctors is not particularly encouraging, but… well, “Never tell me the odds!”

Let’s do what we can to give little Elise the best possible chance for at least a partly normal life.

We thought it was a noteworthy cause, and thought we’d pass it on to you….I’ll be donating.

To be honest I wasn`t all that fussed about going to see the movie in person anyway. I prefer to watch things on DVD or stream it in my living room.

Maybe I`ll just donate the money I would have spent going to see episode 7.

Thanks for this. It’s always moving to see the generosity of humanity in action.

Let’s go help these fine folks!

Thank you for posting this, it scares me to think about being in the same position. I don’t have children yet, but some day I will and I had no idea this disease existed. My heart goes out to the parents, who I cannot imagine how they must feel.

This is indeed very scary problem! To have your child with such a health issue. No child should suffer like this. I will be donating!

Donated. I have a 3 yr old boy. At times being a parent is difficult, but this really puts things into perspective. Best of luck to them

Donated. And if I win, I don’t want the items. Her Dad earned that stuff through his hard work and labor and deserves to keep these items.

I like all the momentum towards not keeping the gear because I feel the same way. I couldn’t possibly take anything from a family going through so much.

This is really sad. I’ll help donate & spread awareness. I hope that Disney/StarWars&Co offered/donated something.

Wow, I bet there are millions of desperate parents out there that wished they were lucky enough to work on SW7. Why doesn’t he ask his employers aka Disney for help, oh…they don’t care. I hope she gets the help she needs though. St. Jude Hospital is 100% free for children that have cancer, rare diseases, and happenings, and they even offer free living and expenses during the ordeal. wonder if they have looked into them.

A truly sad tale, this little girl deserves to have a chance. I’d encourage everybody to donate whatever you can, no matter how little. And in reply to X’Tura I’m sure that Disney, JJ, Lucas et al, have already been in touch, it’s not a topic of which to be cynical if you don’t know the back story.

I’m not in a position to help right now, but I think what you are doing by reaching out to the community is very commendable. I hope it will help Elise, Brad, and the rest of the family in what must be a very difficult time.

    I’m Donating now.

This breaks my heart being the father of a 4 year girl myself and I also have another baby due in June.

I wish all the best to Elise’s family and I hope she lives a long and happy life in spite her condition.
