The Force Awakens 3D Trailer and Exclusive Content Shown At a Disney Convention?

Storm

Our friend Patrick from deathstar.nl sent us an image with an invitation to a Disney convention that took place in The Netherlands last week. The invitation mentions a screening of exclusive content.

The Disney convention (a kind of trade convention) took place in The Netherlands on December 11th. It was held in a cinema and those who were invited were shown, among other things,  the teaser trailer for The Force Awakens in 3D.  Here’s the actual invitation:

Invitation

Unfortunately, we couldn’t confirm if the exclusive content was only the 3D version of the trailer or if there was something else. As we reported yesterday (via JediNews) the 3D trailer has already been rated, so it should be released this week with The Hobbit.

Speaking of Disney, we asked one of our sources what they think about the rumors that a teaser poster will be released this week. They simply answered, “If a poster is released this week, then Disney doesn’t know anything about it.”

As we reported before, a theater owner told us that they are expecting TFA posters probably in January, but nothing is set in stone. Take it as you like.

Oh, and as you probably have already noticed, now we’re exactly 1 year away from the most anticipated movie premiere for the last decade. 🙂

Leave God out of this. If he really existed, we wouldn’t have had the prequels.

If people meant GOD God, “OMG” would not be used so often. I do thank Jesus that we’re fortunate enough to enjoy movies like Star Wars from time to time though, but that’s just me though.

What did Jesus have to do with any of the Star Wars movies?

Idk, Lots of things have a make a difference with other things that might not be obvious. I was more referring to myself being fortunate (i,e. not dead in a plane-crash, not catching ebola, not sucked into a time-paradox, what-have-you), thus making me able to spend time enjoying the saga.

“Your eyes can deceive you. Don’t trust them.”
            or
            “Have faith.”…

“You don’t believe in the Force, do you?”
            or
“You don’t believe in God, do you?”
            … either way: same thing.

(Oh and there’s “Thank the Maker”…but George was smart and had a droid say it. Lots of religious ideas in Star Wars… just carefully presented.)

Star Wars was designed to be Culturally Ambiguous (i,e, George wrote the Jedi as Zen-Buddhists from Day 1)

Star Wars can be interpreted in many ways, there is no One Correct Answer to the Symbolism in Star Wars, that’s it’s selling point.

Yeah, I was gonna say that this is THE most
      anticipated movie of all time.
Moreso than the PT because the PT was, yes,
new Star Wars, but the ST picks up the story
and moves forward with the characters that everyone
      automaically associates with Star Wars.

Hi i live in holland and the invitation doesn’t specifically say anything about star wars 7… it says that there will be never before seen footage at the convention but that could be from any of the movies mentioned on the invitation… does not have to be the case with every movie mentioned
    I wouldn’t count on it !!!

Well it happened one week ago se we’re definitely not counting on it. Just sharing an interesting story and using it to make some remarks about the poster and the less than a year countdown. 🙂

theres been so little said about 3d for force awakens, ive been wondering if the movie will actually be in 3d. i love it, personally, if done right.

3D can be cool, it can also be lame though. I guess it depends on the situation and execution.
I’m remembering a comment Joss Whedon made:

He commented that when he changed Avengers into 3D, he was surprised that the 3D actually improved the quiet, conversation scenes. He noted Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) in specific, saying the scene where he’s sitting alone with Black Widow talking, the 3D actually brought out the subtleties in Renner’s acting that weren’t previously obvious.

The same filming crew that worked on “Into Darkness” is working on Episode 7. 3D’s quality is dependent upon the filming… for a lot of crews it’s a learning experience because shooting in 3D is a new-ish to them.

For what it’s worth the 3D in “into Darkness” was pretty good… not totally amazing but pretty good. I’m sure they learned a thing or two so I’d expect Episode VII’s 3D to be even better. I saw the 3D trailer… it looked very good. When the Episode VII title popped up at the end I was blown away… it looked a lot better than 2D! (I saw that in a crappy theater as well)

That being said, the 3D presentation you are likely to get is not only dependent on the film itself… the theater can mess it up. If you want to get the best 3D image… I would suggest either going to an IMAX (the IMAX 3D image is a lot brighter because their projectors use 2 bulbs I believe).

If you can find a 4k digitial projection that will help as well & will have less liklihood of a dim image. I went to an ICON theater last night to see the Hobbit… the image was very clear, clean, & bright. If you guys want help finding good theaters I might beable to help out. I’d recommend testing it out in other theaters with The Hobbit this week.

I’d also recommend keeping an eye out for “Dolby Atmos” screenings. That will ensure you get the best sound possible + 3D sound. Usually Atmos theaters will have good screens too.

Yes, could be a problem . the film wasn’t shot in 3d. Whenever they make a film 3d that wasn’t filmed that way,in post production, it looks bad.

I believe Episode VII was shot in 3D. Post conversion 3D doesn’t always look bad… it’s just not ideal. For example… I heard Jurrassic Park post 3D looked pretty good. I have Titanic on 3D bluray… I have yet to watch it but I heard it’s 3D transfer was done pretty well. But yes… it looks a lot better if shot on film in 3D.

BTW, the Hobbit aired last weekend in some London theaters, and it included the 3D teaser, which I watched. Exact same thing that we all already watched, only in 3D.

I mentioned to Viral that I saw it in 3D that weekend the teaser was released. I thought the 3D looked pretty good… the logo at the end killed it… that looked so cool seeing the Star Wars logo pop out at you! I expect the crawl will look especially neat!

I didn’t see the teaser along with the Hobbit at the theater I saw it at (Icon). I think it’s dependent upon the theater chain & location.

I had a really bad nightmare last night that the force awakens was horrible and christian Hayden was in it. It was like a really bad fan fiction and it didn’t even take place after ROTJ it was just a made up thing with a bunch of different characters in it. There was no continuity and even worse it seemed that the movie had a high opinion of it self. I think the Disney feature with that little kid gave me the nightmare and the fact that the “episode 7” is nowhere near the tfa title?

I heard others had nightmares about it as well I hope this is the only one I have cause it was terrifying.

BTW I have no issues with Christian Hayden.

Since I saw the trailer, and it looked good, and my hopes stayed high, I’ve started to become worried it will not be a good film. I watched and skipped through atotc the other night. Visually it felt so unlike the ot and didn’t feel real at all. I remembered the hollow emotional feeling I felt after each prequel movie… I hope this movie is at least better than revenge of the sith. Or I’ll be screaming nooooooo
And I have no problems with people enjoying the prequels, I just didn’t. I just want ep7 to be a great movie. Everyone wants that. To Al the post guys working now – make it great and don’t be afraid to tell jj if something isn’t good- the ot guys kind of added stuff and made stuff good. Go guys!

I watched the 3D trailer of TFA attached to the Hobbit and it was aweful.
The 3D wasn’t used at all.

Of course they aren’t using 3D cameras to film the movie, so I wouldn’t advise anyone to watch the actual movie in 3D when it comes out.
I hope they won’t release it in 3D at all. It would be a fraud.
