UPDATE! Rumor: Lily Collins Auditioned for Star Wars: Episode 7 Back in December?

star wars

Plenty of audition rumors lately. This one comes from one of our sources in Los Angeles. It’s the same one who told us that Sigourney Weaver has been talking with J.J. Abrams about a possible role in the new Star Wars movie…

(March 5, 2014)
My source told me that actress/model Lily Collins had an audition for Episode 7, and she had a meeting with director J.J. Abrams back in December. No details about the role have been revealed but according to the source she auditioned for the role of one of the characters’ child.

Lily Collins was born in the UK in 1989. At the age of 5 she moved to LA. She is the daughter of English musician Phil Collins. She is best known for her roles in Mirror Mirror and The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.

The sequel to The Mortal Instruments was put on an indefinite delay days before production was set to start. Later it was revealed that the movie could probably start filming in 2014 but nothing is set in stone. This leaves Lily Collins’ schedule wide open for another project.

Another thing that’s interesting is that in August Sigourney Weaver was confirmed to join the cast of the sequel of The Mortal Instruments. With the delay they are both available for a possible Episode 7 involvement.
Also Jonathan Rhys Meyers, another rumored contender for Episode 7, will appear in The Mortal Instruments‘ sequel.

So keep an eye on that one.

If you’re unfamiliar with her and haven’t watched any of her movies, here’s Lily Collins on Chelsea Lately:

UPDATE!

(April 25, 2014)
We received some more tips on Lily Collins’ possible involvement with Star Wars.

First of all just a few weeks after we posted the rumor a completely different source also mentioned that she went for a role in the new Star Wars movie.

Now according to the first source Lily Collins was beat out by another actress that they wanted bad for Episode 7. The interesting part is that they really enjoyed Collins’ audition and wanted her to be involved somehow with other upcoming Star Wars projects. I was told that she could be cast for Episode 8. And with the upcoming TV series and spin-off movies there are many options for the young actress.

Also according to the same source “Gossip Girl” actress Jessica Szohr originally had a part in Episode 7 after the first script, but her character was dropped out after that. Something similar happened to Sam Witwer’s character.

Terrbile movie, but with a lot less make up this girl could have a fitting face for Star Wars and she’s a better actress than Hayden Christiansen, for sure.

Agreed, DJ… Hayden Christiansen is a terrible actress. ;^)

because male actors who portray whiny, emotional characters are automatically called girls. Your joke was kinda sexist, if I interpret it correctly.

I don’t know why her IMDb bio doesn’t say this—the trivia section does though—but FYI, Lily Collins is the daughter of musician Phil Collins. No joke.

Cue arguments about the relative merits of ’70s-era vs ’80s-era Genesis…

So you’d rather check this site and see absolutly no information whatsoever, rather than stay up to date on possibilities and rumors? Find a different site to follow. I for one enjoy reading up on actors and actresses being considered for EpVII. Make your own blog if you don’t like the way Viral runs things. I think he’s doing a fantastic job at keeping us fans updated. It’s not like he’s just taking every little piece of info that’s even minorly related to Star Wars and throwing it at us like monkies with shit. He checks it with sources and even then still reminds us to take all rumors as a grain of salt until legitimate confirmation.
      I think you’re just ungreatful.

I think you interpreted my comment incorrectly. I love how Viral has made this site, and am very grateful for it. I check it every day. I was just expressing how I feel. This is the top site for Star Wars 7 news by far. The fact that someone even made a website like this is just amazing. I still love this site so much, just gets tough being a star wars fan :/ i’m sure you can relate. Sorry for any inconvenience

I also appologize for kinda lashing out there. It is damn tough being a Star Wars in these dark times. We’ve just gotta be patient and know that when real information comes, we’ll finally have the satisfaction of knowing. I’m sure it will all be worth the unbarable wait.

I’m seriously gonna go pay just to watch the trailer in theaters if I have to, but a teaser will probably be with the new hobbit movie. Idk. Has JJ ever released a teaser a year early before?

Not sure if it’s really up to JJ. It all depends on how their marketing campaign is set up.

I really am interested when they finally just drop the casting on us. It’ll be amazing. I almost wish they’d tickle them out but… that’s probably unfair to the first person they announce. All the scrutiny!

JJ, if you are still casting, get Meryl Streep in there. I don’t care what role. an imperial commander, I want mery streep in star wars. Because why the frig not.

    • April 25, 2014 at 6:15 pm
      Permalink

Of course Meryl Streep will be in the movie. I hear the midichlorians in my cells tell me that it is the will of the Force that Meryl Streep will pop up even before the opening crawl.

To improve the really horrible gender balance in the original trilogy, Meryl Streep will also be digitally inserted in numerous scenes there, just like Hayden Christensen was added to Return of the Jedi. In the next release, look for Meryl sitting next to Luke and Biggs when the rebels are planning the attack on the Death Star. It will also turn out that when Lando invites Han and Leia to dinner in Episode V, it was actually Meryl’s character that did the cooking.

In a coming extended version of Return of the Jedi, Meryl Streep will make a special appearance as Gardulla the Hutt (with proper digital make-up, of course), since it turns out that Gardulla was visiting Jabba’s palace at the time. Gardulla strips Luke of all his clothes, puts some tight leather on him and has him sitting before her throne in chains (there, finally the fangirls ALSO get something nice to look at in that movie!)

Yes, we can all look forward to seeing Meryl Streep make her mark on the Star Wars universe!

Really? You’ve never seen a girl with structured eyebrows that aren’t drawn on with a pencil? You must be from LA.

I agree, they look like eyebrows chics used to wear in the 80’s and early 90’s. Someone get her eyebrow plucking specialist immediately!

What is all this?!?! First we get that Driver dude with the Watto-sized nose, now this chic with the big bushy eyebrows.

Will it be the Imperial nose versus the Rebel eyebrows?

When she was asked to confirm if she was offered a role she had no reply at all. If she’s in it it starts filming soon the scripts have likely gone out so she will get that paper late.

Lilly would be really good for attracting younger/teenage audiences. However, I hope that if she’s cast, she’s cast because she’s the best for the role, not as a tool to get the new audience.

I hope the same for Efron. If Abrams (a dedicated Star Wars fan since the late 70’s) thinks he’ll be right for Star Wars; I trust his judgement. This movie cannot be compared to any other project that Abrams has directed. He’ll be cowriting the screen play and directing the next installment to a series which he accredits to inspiring his love for film making. I’m sure he’s taking this a lot more seriously than he has any other project in the past. One slip-up could potentially ruin his career. I don’t think he’d risk even the slightest mistake.

    • March 5, 2014 at 11:12 pm
      Permalink

You’re right. He must know what he’s doing, we shouldn’t be too worried. The pressure must be constantly reminding him he needs the best. Besides, he’s a fan, he wants the best, too. I’m sure once we see the movie we’ll feel a lot better.

Casting is Casting, and this is supposed to be about passing the torch to the next generation, literally, a new generation of fans as well as in story. Just because you hate young people doesn’t mean they all can’t act.

    • March 6, 2014 at 3:15 am
      Permalink

I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to imply Lilly Collins can’t act, or that I hate her. I must’ve worded it wrong. I mean, I’m a teenager. I’m part of the audience they’d try to attract (and it’d be weird hating young people when I’m one of them, lol). I just meant I hope they are casting for the character, not for the audience. But as you said, casting is casting. They know what they’re doing.

If Driver is a Jacen type character, I see Collins as the Queen of Hapes! She has the elegance and bearing as well as the athleticism of a Jedi, minus an arm? 😉

You can keep Rhys-Meyers, Sigourney Weaver and Jessica whatever.
