And here’s the new international Rogue One poster from Mexico, which is a bit different from the rest, featuring Yavin IV. As you know the Yavin IV scenes from A New Hope were filmed in Guatemala, bordered by Mexico. (via prensaimperial):

And most of the wide shots they’ve shown are gorgeous.

I know, right?! Looking at that theater-sized rear projection setup for hyperspace makes me excited to just see what shots Edwards has designed there.

These photos confirm my theory- Willow is Snoke.
I mean look at the giant gash in his prosthetic head.
    You heard it here first.

Have a look at that photo upside-down. The thing you thought is a gash is actually his mouth. 🙂

The sets they’ve built are pretty damn impressive… TFA looks like a school project compared to this.

I won’t lie. I was honestly amazed when I watched the extra features and saw they had created that in a sound stage. Totally fooled me, I thought they filmed in an actual forest for most of it.

I know I’m not the first to ask this but – any word on whether we’ll see an Episode VIII trailer in front of this film?

Also, I’m really excited about Rogue One. I think it looks pretty interesting and more “Star Wars’ than TFA.

No news on a trailer, but it’s believed that it may not happen, simply because they want everyone’s focus on Rogue One. Having a trailer for VIII may direct their attention away from the movie, then again, this what I’ve heard from Collider and a few other sources, so, who knows right?

Also, really? I thought TFA was pretty close to what feels like a Star Wars film, unless you’re referring to how they are putting the “war” in Star Wars.

Not only could it direct attention away from RO, it could further confuse audience members who still aren’t sure when RO takes place as they sit down and start to watch the movie. Then the Episode VIII teaser is shown, and for a brief moment they think they’re watching Episode VIII.

I love it when we see the director get down and dirty with the rest of the crew. I remember he gets pretty active in the behind the scenes footage we see too.

Why do some people immediately start talking shit on TFA now just because rogue one is coming out?! This is exactly what people are gonna do when episode 8 comes out and say oh rogue one is piece of shit. It’s like can anyone be satisfied with anything these days? We didn’t have any Star Wars for 10 years and now it’s back to being super critical just like the prequels. Why can’t we respect each film for what it is. It’s not a contest to out do each film. They are all good

I love the OT. I liked half of Clone War series. I like Rebels. I thought TFA was pretty great. I think R1 looks amazing. I’m worried about the Han Solo film. I think the PT should burn in a fire for all eternity.

      I think I’m pretty balanced! 😛

I don’t like the PT but I don’t think it should burn.

Jar Jar and Count Dooku..well I liked Dooku in the animated series. I’d say Anakin too, but Filoni fixed him in the cartoon too.

Because there are people who didnt like TFA…..and RO looks way more promising.

      • November 8, 2016 at 6:37 pm
        Permalink

Yea but why does it look more promising? It looks awesome but I still feel it’s missing the core Star Wars element which is the main characters and I know that’s intended but people keep saying it feels more “Star Warsy” just because it’s based in the old era. So does that mean the sequel trilogy can never feel “star warsy” I like the new era because we finally move past this age. It’s been done over and over. Time for something new

TFA had so much elements from the OT in it its hard to say it doesnt feel Star Warsy. The huge letdown for me was the storyline. Lets hope RO has more tension and surprises then TFA which was fun to watch but made little sense for most parts of the story.

First let me say I loved the new cast and most of TFA. I totally get it’s criticisms though.

That said… I can’t quite put my finger on it… but man R1 really does feel Star Warsy. I think that fact no returning cast members or continuing the saga is why it’s actually working for it.

You don’t have this moment of… something feels wrong. Like I love Harrison Ford but it was hard to picture that this is what actually happened to Han Solo. Same with Leia. Interestingly I feel Luke felt the most like Luke. Coincidence that he didn’t say or do anything?

I think it’s a perception thing and everyone will experience it differently. For me the PT trilogy feels so foreign I can barely even consider it canon. The NT had so many overwhelming connections I can’t really deny it. Like Luke training (maybe) Rey.

Since R1 is completely free of all those preconceptions I feel it’s more free to be itself. Since it’s so deep within the timeline of the OT… I think it just naturally feels like an extension of it. So that weird combo of freedom and grounded in the setting at the same time.

Conversely… who’s to say Vader on screen might feel wrong? Or how the Empire acts/feels… or every other little thing. We shall see.

          Sorry for the mini novel!

Yes. I totally agree with all of that. I think rogue 1 is gonna be one of the best Star Wars movies until episode 8 comes out lol thanks for the awesome reply 🙂

I have not seen this. The squadron of drop ships is bad ass…

You know as a kid I loved everything about the Empire.

But as a grown up? I really want to fight for the Rebellion.
