Many folks have posted that TFA’s biggest challenge will be living up to our expectations. I certainly believe that is the challenge at this point. But the powers at be must either have complete confidence or they are going all in with a big bluff. Every time a new spot is released, I spend about 2 seconds thinking about why I shouldn’t bother watching, and then I watch it about 10 times. Every spot has been great! They must know how much they are fueling fan expectation with these glimpses! I’m excited and I have tons of expectation. Let the chips fall where they may.

With the running time of the movie being a little over two hours we must have seen over 10% of the movie from trailers by now.

We’ve really only seen a few shots, many of them repeated in each TV spot. I don’t think we’ve seen 12 minutes of actual movie footage

There was about 15 seconds of new footage in this one new spot, We have seen less than 7 mins of actual footage.

In two and a half minute, the Terminator:Genisys trailer showed you the entire plot of the movie. At under 7 minutes, we have no clue where this movie is going.

Actually we know the basic outline of the movie (i.e. the most likely chronological sequence of events). We still don’t know how the movie ends or who is related to whom. There is also a probable plot twist that is being kept secret and may be controversial (based on Boyega’s recent interview).

Visually its amazing. The acting, dialogues and chemistry is also on the spot judging from what we’ve already seen. If the story is also good, than im 100% sure, that this will be the best Star Wars film ever made.

Well yeah, the CG was never the problem, nor are JJ and crew actively ignoring CG. They’ve been using CG for what CG is good at: lightsabers, explosions, video compositing, etc.

They’ve been up-playing the Practical because A; they’re using an unusual amount of practical, and B; people are reactionary as shit.

I can’t really fault them for being paranoid of fan-rage. for whatever reason, everyone decided CGI was to blame for the PT’s arguable shortcomings. To say CG is to blame is a massive over-simplification, but that assumption still needs to be pacified to get asses in the seats.

No one with their head screwed on was really expecting TFA to be 100% practical effects.

“..even you have never faced such a test..”

Hmmm. So much intrigue. Is he speaking to Kylo? If so why the “even you”? Has Kylo done something to prove himself capable of great things (even if they are evil). If not, then who is Snoke talking to? Interesting.

And what test? Kylo from what we have been told, although part of the First Order, is on his own mission. Whether its to retrieve Lukes saber, or to find Luke, or whatever. Phasma and Hux are the ones responsible for destroying the Resistance. So that is not Kylo’s test. So what is Kylo’s test if indeed Snoke is talking to him?

    Very interesting indeed.

Kylo’s obviously looking for “the last Jedi”. And I can’t think of too many tests that could be harsher than facing the guy who vanquished Vader, none other than Kylo’s hero & idol.

I think the one person Snoke would have that kind of respect for would be Luke. What test has Luke, already proven powerful, never faced? Turning someone to the dark side. That someone: Rey.

Snoke seems to have a high regard for Kylo when he says “Even YOU have never faced such a test”. That’s sounds weird because most of the spoilers so far indicate that Kylo would be a somewhat clumsy still-in-training-Vader-fanboy that can’t even make a good lightsaber.

Maybe that’s how Snoke manipulates Kylo… by making him feel stronger than he actually is.

yeagh but isnt that exactly how Palpatine seduced and controlled all of his apprentices ? “u have done well” was a phrase he often said

Whenever Palpatine says “You have done well” to Vader, he probably means it. Vader was the Chosen One.

True… but “You have done well” is different from “Even YOU have never faced such a test”. It really seems like Snoke is saying some thing like “Even someone as powerful and experienced as YOU have never faced such a test”.

Probably because Kylo will be the best of the Knights of Ren. Snoke would be inflating his ego to control him.

Which is really improbable if you think about it. A Jedi padawan normally wouldn’t be a match for a fully trained Sith Lord.

From my understanding, Maul was a young Sith apprentice, not a fully trained Sith Lord.

Maul was hardly a full Sith Lord, he was the sith version of a padawan at best. lets not forget that during the events of The Phantom Menace , Darth Sidious was still the apprentice of Darth Plagueis ( the “murder in your sleep” part happened the day after Palpatine got elected if i’m not mistaken )

Honestly I do hope we have some thinking out the box surprises in store, things that no ones even thought of, or counter to what the most fan favoured twists might be.

Maybe the spoilers are not accurate and Kylo has already proven himself in several tasks Snoke has assigned to him.

That’s what it is. I remember the spoilers you’re talking about, and also remember those very same spoilers claimed he was clumsy while creating his lightsaber and that was why it was the way that it was, but now we know he intended to design his saber in that fashion, JJ said he was creating an ancient styled lightsaber. Those EARLY spoilers are now getting debunked.

At :44 second it looks like that trooper is about to come down on Finn with the death blow from his electro-staff, and Solo pops out of the rubble just in time to blast him, throwing him back. I know things in trailers aren’t necessarily reflective of the final movie, but it would be interesting if that’s the case: Han saves Finn.

That I’m confused about is why the hell did the ST do a somersault in the air? Han’s blaster isn’t that powerful. Huh :/

I’m in agreement with the analysis that the bolt is coming from an X-Wing. Makes sense to me and if you go back to the final trailer, you see X-Wing(s) strafing the stronghold and a stormtrooper shooting at it with his comparatively puny blaster. Either this is another angle or this is a completely different trooper (electro tonfa riot trooper, possibly the one Finn is fighting with) suffering the same fate.

Still if JJ uses Jar Jar as Snoke it would create riples through the living Force and millions would cry in terror. On the other hand there is a sound theory that Jar Jar was actually an undercover Sith who was placed by Palpatine near Anakin. That theory also explains why he never gets hurt, he is using the Force.

The first trilogy (IV, V, VI) worked well because they twisted the argument, like a soap opera. The heros IV, the villain became father V, and then the romance became sister VI. So I would expect they keep secrets for VIII and IX.

Hey, something I though of earlier, that’s totally left field and probably totally bonkers. I remembered about the shot of what looked like Adam Driver in a resistance pilot outfit, then I thought, what if he is playing twins. One a good guy, one Kylo Ren. Adam Driver playing two parts, perhaps they don’t even know each other, perhaps no one but their parents know. Or some crazy set up like that. VERY unlikely, but if there was going to be a true twist no one had seen that would be a fantastic one.

So that is Starkiller Base firing. It is a slow powerful Stream like a lightsaber out of a planet. They changed Snokes Voice a bit unless he talks to a few peeps. If Snoke is not the Awakening than just like the Title says it is the Force. However what Awakens the Force. Poe is Hans estranged son. The even you suggests that Kylo has been at this for a while. He is not green but battle hardened. So what is the Awakening. It must be something. If Snoke is already awake and says Kylo has to face it it can not be him. Maybe it is the Death of Anakin Skywalker. I still hope dearly Luke was wise enough to pull him out of the suit and keep him alive.

No, I just don’t get the logic behind declaring the movie as a masterpiece until we’ve seen it.

Finn mentions something he has “seen”. Is he referring to Starkiller base and the firing of the First Order’s super weapon ? Is that what made hum defect from the First Order? Or did he have a “force vision” as part of the “awakening” ?

I think he’s referring to the atrocities he witnesses at the beginning of the movie that compel him to leave the First Order.

I can’t tell what is said right after Snoke says “Even you have never faced such a test”. It sounds like Kylo Ren responding maybe? It’s hard to tell. Can anyone make out what is being said?
