Daisy Ridley Looking Gorgeous on the Cover of Elle Magazine!
Daisy Ridley and John Boyega have been pretty busy lately, being the most wanted young stars from the new Star Wars movie. They both appeared on The Hollywood Reporter and Asos, and now Daisy, all by herself, takes center stage on the cover of the December issue of ELLE magazine…
Excerpt from ELLE‘s December cover story:
1. She’s done the prep.
[T]he diet—”lots of fish, legumes, and spirulina shakes,” Ridley says—and three months of grueling training: five hours a day, five days a week at the gym plus stunt practice at London’s Pinewood studios. “It became my solace,” she says of a fitness schedule she’s largely maintained in order to stay in Rey shape for reshoots, as well as the next, soon-to-film sequel in the series. “Because it’s the only thing structured in my life right now. Training is sort of a therapy session, I guess.”
2. She can keep a secret.
“I couldn’t tell any of my friends,” she continues. “I told my mum and my sisters— then my sister told her boyfriend, and my mum told her friend. I was like, ‘Great, guys—you are great.'”
3. She’s prepared to die for the part.
“We were told about this scorpion in Abu Dhabi that, if it stabbed you, you needed treatment within half an hour,” Ridley recalls with a laugh. “There was this bit where I was lying in the sand, and if a scorpion got me, the nearest hospital was an hour away. So I was like, I could die right now. I could be dead in half an hour.” Knowing that, she still stayed there for as long as the scene took, displaying a grit that will come in handy when, as [Harrison] Ford puts it, “the whole world’s coming at her.”
4. She’s ready to be a new kind of role model.
“[Rey is] so strong. She’s cool and smart and she can look after herself. Young girls can look at her and know that they can wear trousers if they want to,” Ridley promises. “That they don’t have to show off their bodies.”

cool interview, when are they gonna post the ASOS one though???
“Hold this big silver mannequin under your arm and walk this way.”
“Why?”
“Just do it.”
Oh, don’t mind me.
Just taking my chrome mannequin for a walk through the ghetto while wearing my red dominatrix outfit.
I ain’t mad about the outfit
I love her!
I wonder if she was using the mannequin for bonfire night last week. 😛 She just decided am having that and put it on top of the fire!
“That they don’t have to show off their bodies.” She says as she shows off her body… just a reminder she is just an actor and not anything more.
That’s reaching. We don’t live in the Middle East here… we are bound to see a female ankle or, gasp, a naked wrist from time to time. What I got from what Daisy said was girls don’t have to objectify themselves, increasing the sluttiness-factor just to rise above the pack, as many have done. That’s totally true and a great thing that Daisy said it.
Bear in mind most 5yo girls don’t purchase Elle Magazine – one would hope
She’s talking about in the movie.
That was my initial reaction also – I felt confused by what I read vs what I saw. I think Daisy is a beautiful young woman who commendably desires to be a good role model while having to conform to the demands of Hollywood. However I do think the “red dress” worked against her role model aspirations (she appears so much more “catwalk model” in that shot). I think Daisy has the brightest future and should take to heart all the wisdom and experience Carrie has to offer.
Maybe she feels comfortable in her dress? Perhaps she chose it? WE DON’T KNOW. So enjoy the photo and lay off. Man…
I guess she should wear a burka for this interview?
She can carry her staff in the free hand.
look, I’m carrying a mouse with my free hand, and a keyboard is being reverse-carried by my other hand.
Man….she is smokin’ hot….
Cherio
Yeah a picture of Finn should be next to Daisy. JJ Abrams said in his wired Magazine interview that the Force Awakens is the story of A Young Man and a Young Woman. He didn’t say just a Young Woman like so many people keep trying to tell themselves. It would be interesting how people would be looking at Finn if they cast a Miles Teller type.
You mean a picture of Kylo
First off, you’re mistaking Skywalker Lineage with Importance.
Second off, everyone’s racist apparently :/
Personally, I find JB way more interesting, so I guess more Finn-jackets for me 🙂
Can I just say that the picture on the right of Rey is about a million times better looking than the one in the post above.
^^ You know YOU’RE RIGHT O.O
MIND. BLOWN.
Silver mannequin = Naked Capt Phasma
Ha ha!!!
I would have had no idea who that was.
She looks like someone here I just can’t think of too. I still don’t care for the name of Rey and much prefer Kira. I’m hoping that’s her real name in the film since it has a nicer ring to it imo especially if her last name is Skywalker or Solo.
Anytime I hear the name Rey now, I think of that Married With Children episode just as it’s impossible for me not to think of Glee or Adventure Time when I hear the name Finn and I don’t even watch those shows. I’m okay with Phasma mainly because it fits in with the whole cheesy 30’s serial aspect of the series like Commander Cody did.
I was iffy too, but I like it better hearing the way she pronounces it in the trailer – comes out more like “Rye” than is does “Ray”, which Rye is actually a good name.
Also I was wierded out that they went with Finn, but that striking visual of his mug popping into shot to the tune of John Williams blew my pre-visualization of a blonde kid with a sword, for me by now, Finn the ex-Stormtrooper is very much his own thing with a separate identity.
What with the double-exposition to the name Finn [i will not count ‘Glee’], “Finn” is going to be the most popular baby name as of 2018 — probably. Move over Dovahkiin and Skylar, there’s a NEW NAME IN TOWN.
I actually prefer Rye too, lol. Not a great name but it sounds better. Kira is still on the Speeder they had at Celebration so I’m hoping it’s still used in the final film at some point.
Haha. I’m not big on Poe either. Dameron sounds pretty exotic though as does Unkar.
I guess I should have expected this, but please entertainment industry, please don’t use this person up and spit her out.
I have not even seen her in a movie yet, and I am already in love with her!!!
Looking incredible!!
It’s kind of weird that I already think of Rey and Finn and BB-8 and all the rest of the new characters as just being a part of Star Wars, as if they have been there since the beginning.
I also like that she has a deeper commanding voice like Carrie or Bacall. I could never take Natalie seriously with her mousey sounding one. I think Daisy was probably the smartest new casting choice of this film by far.
This could have been a mega disaster had they gone the usual Hollywood route and gone with J-Raw like they mentioned on another site.
The movie hasn’t even been released and already they’re sexualizing her.
Are they? Hmm I didnt see any chains on her. Im guessing she has some say in all of it.
Note how they’re accentuating her legs, with her torso mostly covered… which is what’s “sexy” in Japan/China. For Americans, they always focus on the torso or hips, here it’s the legs. Playing right into the Japanese market is what they’re doing here.
Man, these marketing guys are geniuses.
Make no mistake, this is kinda boorish and objectifying, but MAN do I respect their tactical brilliance.
No one forced her to take these pictures…and if you think they did, why don’t you ask her yourself?
My point is someone directed the photo shoot, and the direction on it is very much in line with the fashion in Asia, that’s my point,
Astute observation!
Daisy has such a tiny waiste. I think my thigh has a larger circumference than her waistline. She is gorgeous and photogenic we will probably start seeing her on the covers of fashion magazines like we do with Lupita Nyongo.
“girls dont have to show off their bodies..” As she is in a photo shoot with 3/4 of her top showing. /faceplant.
The don’t have to, but they can.. You’re not complaining, are you?
Well damn. If she acts half as good as she looks, she’s got a long career ahead of her.
