‘The Acolyte’: New Action-Packed Clip Shows an Assassin Targeting Jedi Master Indara

A new clip from the upcoming Disney+ series Star Wars: The Acolyte has been released, featuring the (seemingly) titular acolyte going up in a fight against Jedi Master Indara.

In this scene, we see the midst of a bar fight as we see how Mae targets the local patrons on her way to try to assassinate Indara. The footage in The Acolyte places heavy emphasis on action, but the combat interestingly downplays the use of lightsabers in favor of knives and more traditional martial artistry, on top of creative applications of the Force.

A portion of this clip was showcased in front of the 25th Anniversary screenings of The Phantom Menace earlier this month, alongside a short trailer similar to the most recent one, but new footage is also peppered in to the duel. You can watch the footage below:

Set 100 years before the events of The Phantom MenaceThe Acolyte showcases the waning days of the High Republic, an era of the galaxy where the Jedi were at the height of their power and the specter of corruption had yet to come. The Jedi are able to live up to their reputation of being peacekeepers, but when a mysterious assassin adept in the powers of the Dark Side appears and begins targeting them, a group of Jedi must investigate a threat hidden in the shadows – and the shadows themselves have a story to tell of their own, as Mae has a checkered past tied to the Jedi Order. The series stars Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss.

Star Wars: The Acolyte begins streaming on Disney Plus on June 4, 2024 with a two-episode premiere. The show is intended to run for multiple seasons, and a second season is presently in active development with a writer’s room.
