‘The High Republic Adventures’ Brings Back Ty Yorrick for New ‘Saber for Hire’ Miniseries

With Phase III of The High Republic continuously expanding, Dark Horse adds another new series to its repertoire: Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures – Saber for Hire. The new series features the returning Ty Yorrick with a new (yet familiar) apprentice working as monster hunters. The series also features the return of writer Cavan Scott and artist Rachael Stott, who did Phase I’s The Monster of Temple Peak together.

Scott provided a few more details in StarWars.com‘s announcement of the series. He focuses on Ty Yorrick and her apprentice trapped behind the Nihil Stormwall, hinting at Ty’s apprentice possibly breaking their bonds:

“I am really excited to be teaming up with Rachael Stott once again for more Ty Yorrick adventures. Saber For Hire takes place in The High Republic‘s dramatic third phase when the anarchic Nihil have annexed a vast area of Republic space. Former Jedi-turned-monster-hunter Ty and her apprentice Drewen are trapped behind enemy lines and having the time of their lives hunting beasts and making a small fortune. Well, Ty is having the time of her life. Drewen is feeling sidelined and wants more from their partnership. As Ty faces a nightmare from her past, Drewen steps out on his own. What could go wrong, right?”

Lucasfilm Publishing creative director Michael Siglain also added more story details. Siglain hints at Ty possibly having further connections and ties to the Jedi, even though she broke away from the Order a long time ago:

Saber for Hire is filled with adventure, horror, and heart. Ty has left the Jedi Order far behind and has fully embraced her role as a monster-hunting saber-for-hire — or has she? As we’ll see, Ty is key to the larger battle between the marauding Nihil and the monstrous Nameless — she just doesn’t know it yet.”

Ty was first introduced in Scott’s The Rising Storm. She went on to star in the aforementioned The Monster of Temple Peak, where she met Drewen. The pair returned in Phase II’s The Nameless Terror and were established as a formal team.

Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures – Saber for Hire is a four-issue miniseries beginning April 10, 2024. For more on The High Republic, check out my review of Phase III of The High Republic Adventures #1, which just released this week.
