Diana Lee Inosanto Teases Intense Fight Sequence With Rosario Dawson in ‘Ahsoka,’ Remembers Co-Star Ray Stevenson

In an interview conducted by Dagobah Dispatch, Entertainment Weekly‘s Star Wars-themed podcast, Morgan Elsbeth actress Diana Lee Inosanto hints at a not-yet-seen fight sequence between her and Ahsoka Tano actress, Rosario Dawson. Inosanto also commented on the recent death of Ray Stevenson and expressed how much of an impact he had on the cast and crew who worked on the show.

The interview (which was conducted before the start of the SAG-AFTRA strike), comes on the heels of Ahsoka’s episode three premiere, “Time to Fly.” As of now, Inosanto’s fight sequence between her and Rosario Dawson has not been shown, nor has it been hinted at in any trailers or TV spots. While Morgan Elsbeth did have a fight sequence with Ahsoka in The Mandalorian, the actress makes it clear that she’s referring to a different fight sequence for Ahsoka.

Being that the interview was conducted many months ago, before the strike, most of the questions centered around Inosanto’s transition from The Mandalorian to her work on Ahsoka. It’s here that she gives more info on the action sequences in Ahsoka when asked what was different this time around for the new show:

“I will tell you one thing: the fight scene for sure. We had about 17 hours to kick out that fight scene between Rosario and me [in The Mandalorian]. Whereas this time around, we had days at it. Let’s just say that. There were days at it for that fight scene. It’s a long, involved fight scene. It’s pretty intense.

There’s so much action involved in this. I don’t want to say too much, but there are some incredible moments between all of us… A lot of what I did in The Mandalorian served me well in Ahsoka.”

The actress was also asked if she’d like to share any fond memories or experiences she had when working with Baylan Skoll actor, Ray Stevenson. Stevenson died earlier this summer, before the premiere of Ahsoka:

“It was real heartbreaking for me to hear about Ray’s passing. We spent a lot of months together. We were like a family. Ivanna [Sakhno] was one of the first people I spoke with. We were both just in tears…

I looked at Ray as a mentor. I’m sure Ivanna can tell you the same thing. He was just such an extraordinary human being, and so gracious…

One thing I can definitely say is Ray was so excited for this character to be released into the world. I know he just felt so happy that the fans were going to experience this particular side and universe of Star Wars. He’s an incredible talent. He’s going to be missed. I know everyone in the cast, and the crew, and all the producers just loved Ray. The fans are just going to love his character.

I used to call him poetry in motion on the sets. He was walking poetry.”

The next episode of Ahsoka premiers September 5 at 6 pm PT on Disney Plus. Keep an eye on Star Wars News Net as we’ll be posting our review of episode four soon after. You can check out Sydney’s spoiler discussion of Part Three here.
