First Two Stories of ‘Tales of Light and Life’ Revealed Ahead of September 5 Release
Before Phase III of the High Republic publishing initiative kicks off in November, the authors who have contributed to the long list of books and comics over the past two-and-a-half years are returning for an anthology book of short stories, set in the High Republic era, titled The High Republic: Tales of Light and Life. The book comes out on September 5, but two of the stories have already been revealed.
Indeed, on the official page of the book on Kobo.com (hat tip to r/StarWarsLeaks), the “Preview Now” button shows the first two stories from the book, titled The Queen’s Bloom (by Zoraida Córdova), and A Closed Fist Has No Claws (by Tessa Gratton). Tales of Light and Life features stories from all periods inside the High Republic, even the time between Phases I and III (remember, Phase II was a prequel to Phase I). This is also not the first excerpt to come out of the book, as Claudia Gray’s After the Fall was already previewed by Entertainment Weekly earlier this year. The book also features an introductory chapter by Michael Siglain, Creative Director of Lucasfilm Publishing.
The full list of authors includes Zoraida Córdova, Tessa Gratton, Claudia Gray, Justina Ireland, Lydia Kang, George Mann, Daniel José Older, Cavan Scott, Charles Soule, and Alyssa Wong (story only included in the Barnes & Noble exclusive edition). Check out the official synopsis below:

On March 12, 2024, Justina Ireland and Tessa Gratton’s young adult novel Defy the Storm comes out.
