New Details Emerge on ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3, Footage of Chapter 23 Shown at ‘Star Wars’ Celebration
The cast and crew of The Mandalorian took the stage at Star Wars Celebration and discussed several interesting details, as well as announced a live fan screening during Celebration for Chapter 23 (which is scheduled to hit Disney Plus next Wednesday). They also showed the first few minutes of Chapter 23 directly in the room during the panel.
A behind-the-scenes photo of Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Rick Famuyiwa, Doug Chiang, Deborah Chow, and more was shown on the stage:

They also re-confirmed that Rick Famuyiwa directed the final two episodes of season 3. This was previously reported, but it’s good to be reminded of, given the setup that Famuyiwa established at beginning of the season. It’s clear that Chapters 23 and 24 are meant to tie everything together, and they wanted the continuity of having the same directorial vision behind them.

The Celebration audience were shown the opening of The Mandalorian episode 7, featuring the return of Moff Gideon. He’s not happy that Bo-Katan has united the Mandalorians and pledges to deal with them. Grand Admiral Thrawn’s ‘imminent’ return is explicitly discussed!
It’s not a huge surprise that Moff Gideon shows up in the final two episodes, as he was confirmed to be in the season, so we knew he had to be showing up sooner or later. It definitely adds more stakes to Bo-Katan and the Armorer’s goal of retaking Mandalore if they have to confront Moff Gideon and whatever forces he’s amassed. No specific details on whether we’ll see Thrawn this season, but it’s clear we’re not far away from his reveal.
