Katy O’Brian Highlighted in New ‘The Mandalorian’ Spot, Jon Favreau Talks Working With Wesley Kimmel, and More

Lucasfilm has shared another new The Mandalorian TV spot after the release of the season 3 premiere yesterday. This spot includes little new footage outside of a new shot of the Imperial comms officer that we saw in season 2, played by Katy O’Brian. Check out the spot below:

Below is a still of the newly revealed shot of Katy O’Brian:

It’s unclear whether O’Brian is wearing an Imperial uniform here, but either way she appears to have lost her role as comms officer. After the capture of Moff Gideon, it’s not surprising that she would be demoted in some fashion. Perhaps she escaped the New Republic judicial system and the new haircut is a means of disguise? What is clear is how unhappy she looks with her current situation. I expect we’ll see her take on a larger role out of vengeance this season.

In addition to the new spot unveiled, we also learned from Jon Favreau’s appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live that Kimmel’s nephew, Wesley Kimmel, is firmly on the Star Wars universe cast list, having had parts now in both The Book of Boba Fett and season 3 of The Mandalorian. Most notably is his part in yesterday’s premiere of The Mandalorian as the Mandalorian foundling being given his helmet by the Armorer in the opening ceremony. In The Book of Boba Fett, Kimmel is listed as playing “Tusken Kid.” Presumably, this is the child that frequently interacts with and becomes endeared to Boba Fett during his time as a prisoner with the Tuskens and later as part of the tribe.

About Wesley Kimmel, Favreau said:

“…And he did such a great job for us on [The Book of Boba Fett] that we figured he should be allowed to show his face this year. We gave him a different role and he’s a little Mandalorian. He’s great.”
