New Star Wars: Rebels Clip Teases the Obi-Wan Kenobi vs Darth Maul Standoff!

A new Rebels preview clip was aired last night during the premiere of the latest episode “Through Imperial Eyes”. The clip features many scenes from previous episodes, but also has some never before seen shots from the series, including the culmination of this season – Darth Maus facing off Obi-Wan Kenobi on Tatooine! Check it out…

The quality of the video is not great, but it is the best one that is currently on the web:

Looks fantastic! There are only 4 episodes left of this season. Here’s a brief descriptio of what’s coming, in case you missed it (via Wookieepedia):

Secret Cargo, March 4, 2017

When a routine refueling mission goes wrong, the Ghost crew find themselves transporting an important rebel leader across the galaxy, pursued by Imperial warships.

Double Agent Droid, March 11, 2017

Chopper and AP-5 team up to infiltrate an Imperial station to steal needed codes, but an Imperial specialist turns the droids against the crew to cause chaos.

Twin Suns, March 18, 2017

Reacting to a vision of Maul, Ezra defies Hera and Kanan to travel to a remote planet in hopes of stopping the former Sith lord from carrying out his plans.

Zero Hour, March 25, 2017

Part One:
In final preparations for their attack on Lothal, Phoenix Squadron’s plans are disrupted when Grand Admiral Thrawn discovers their location.

Part Two:
Trapped on Atollon with the rebel base under siege, Hera and Kanan fight to keep the squadron alive, as Ezra attempts to rally help from an unexpected source.

There are two more episodes until we reach the culmination of this season – the meeting on Tatooine, and the final standoff of the Rebels against Thrawn in the two part finale!

I was never a big fan of Maul coming back tbh, but having a final showdown between those two would be a fitting end to his story. It might appear as fan-service, but Maul’s quest for vengeance needs to end with Kenobi since it was Obi-wan that ended his short Sith Apprentice career.

Given the description of the episode, I’ll bet that Ezra is the one that puts Maul down…

I certainly hope that isn’t the case. Obi-Wan is the perfect character to finally end Maul. Given their history it would feel like a copout if Ezra was the one to do it.

He’ll at least be there to experience the clash I’d think. Whether or not he helps Obi Wan is another story.

I loved Maul in TPM. GL was a fool to kill him off that quick.
However, I agree that he should have stayed dead. The resurrected one talks too much, and doesn’t fight as well as he did in TPM.

Totally agree, he should of made it to AotC. Palpatine would of been prepping Douku and his conversion and start of the civil war could of been tied together.

So it looks like we’ll see more of Sabine in this season after all.

Holly shit,it will be epic, I also hope Sabine leads Mandalor against Empire

I’m not sure she has united Mandalore enough to be the “unexpected source” – also, is that unexpected?

Next two episodes sound kind of like they’ll be filler. As much as I love this show, this season in particular had far to many filler episodes. They really could cut down the episode count to around 12 and skip out on all that.

The next one sounds like it might involve Mon Mothma so it may not be filler, but the one with the droids probably is.

Every television show ever made is “filler,” designed to hold peoples’ attention in between the advertisements. The real jackpot occurs when the filler itself becomes an advertisement for merchandise.

I hope the unexpected source of help for Ezra is Maul and not Hondo. And then Vader comes and we get a Vader/Maul showdown to the death. But instead Kanan is killed saving Ezra during the duel, leaving Ezra in the hands of Maul.

I think it’ll be Sabine and Mandalorians

You think she has united them that fast? Because if it’s just Sabine and her family that doesn’t make much of a dent.

I think it will be Bendu, who sacrifices himself so the Rebels can escape. In yet another display of Force users just prior to ANH. Sigh.

But I’m hoping it’s an unexpected twist, like Maul. Hondo and a pirate fleet would be lame, IMO.

The neutering of Thrawn has been the most disappointing thus far. Hopefully there is some payoff but it would have to some really crazy shit.

How has he been neutered? Thrawn is playing the long game.
