UPDATE 2!
Here’s even more concept art, this time from Concept Art World:
Founder of SWNN, MNN and The Cantina forums.
Born on April 24, 1980.
The Jedha scenes were exceptionally well done. The combination of digital and practical effects blended seamlessly together. To an extent, the lead characters in this type of environment evoked similar emotions as watching the 1st act of Return of a Jedi as an 11 year old kid back in ’83. It’s just a pity the movie really struggled during the 2nd act.
I heard the 3rd act was the best. Th first half was a little slow, that’s fine with me though. So from what I’m getting as the vibes of people who saw the movie already, the first act was good, second act was okay, and 3rd act was the highlight?
The 1st act on the whole had good rhythm, and there was much to like. With all the different planets it could be perceived as a little convoluted, but set the story up pretty well. The 2nd act’s pacing really suffered, ground to a halt in places. The 3rd act was easily the most satisfying, and sure to put a big smile on any viewers face.
More or less jsut like that, yes.
My thoughts: the beginnig was cold but with only a couple of minutes i entered in the movie.
First act was really cool.
In the second act the tempo was slower, the pace really went down,
But the third act was really a non stop emotion scenes and set pieces.
I’m just amazed that the guy who made that godawful Godzilla film made the 4th best Star Wars film in my book. Like Kershner, His resume may not be impressive but he was destined to make a great SW film.
Btw, My first three are the OT so that’s not a knock on the film at all. Especially considering this is a spinoff which are usually terrible in other franchises.
I’m still debating if it’s 4th or 5th best right now. Once I watch it a few more times with full stereo headphones, then I’ll make my decision.
Did anybody notice how actually similar the story was to Dark Forces, but putting the steal the Death Star plans in the last mission instead of the first? I thought there was a bunch of similarities. Death Troopers are the canon Dark Troopers. Etc.
I’ll go through and examine all of the similarities later. There were still a lot of differences as well of course.
I liked the old EU but hated how convulted the story of the Death Star plans was. I’m happy that this film will be the definitive version of that from now on,
I’m trying to think about which do you consider to be the middle act, right after the first one… it wasn’t that struggling IMO, also because of certain things I can’t write here.
Post Jedha/pre-scarif.
Agree on that too. Jedha was really cool. The second act (some rebel conversations, that rock rainy planet, Jyn’s father…) was the weakest one.
I just bought those from amazon!!

they were in the movie! you can see them in the background when jyn and cassian are walking through the streets of jedha city
Really?!, I will pay more atention nex time :), thanks.
Is this the thing from VIII that Finn rides? Bear in mind I haven’t been here for 6 months and need to get caught up on my spoilers.
The creature you say appears to have big ears, I think its another specie.
Possibly a species variation. I like the look of it though. Reminds me of Teryl Whitlach’s abandoned TPM creature concept art.
(excepting the “tentacle” monsters in TFA and RO) This is the most risky creature yet I think, from the TFA to now, and its beautiful, sadly its apearance is too far in the background and for just a little time, two times actually.
I think the next new star wars movies need more of this kind o creatures or aliens like Teryl’s, I feel that Lucas film is being too conservative now, looks like they still want to play it safe in that sense.
I’d love to see a Fantastic Beasts type of film set in the Star Wars universe.
That would be very very interesting, I vote for that.
Thanks! I think a film with all droid or alien cast would be cool too.
may this be a bothan? http://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/lww46afu3tscmvcavsii-768×732.jpg
Doug seems like a cool guy but I never much cared for his work in the PT and ST. However I thought he really brought his A game with this one.
