UPDATE 2! 26 New Rogue One Images Revealed via Topps Trading Cards + New Character Name!

title

Entertainment Weekly got their hands on 6 exclusive Topps trading cards, revealing never before seen images from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Check them out…

From Entertainment Weekly:

rogue-one-02

We begin with a badass female X-wing pilot. Her name: unknown for now. But the V symbols inside the array of yellow dots on her helmet stand for kill counts, each one tallying 20 enemy fighters. Whoever she is, she’s flown around the block a few times.

rogue-one-03

General Merrick is a character we haven’t met before in Star Wars lore, although fans spotted this actor in the Rogue One behind-the-scenes footage from Celebration, cackling with glee as he settled into the cockpit to shoot a scene. One thing you can say for the Rebellion ā€” their generals get right into the thick of battle.

rogue-one-04

Fans have only gotten a few glimpses of this Gigoran creature, an abominable snowman-looking being. (To me, he looks like an upright version of Falkor from 1984’s The NeverEnding Story.) Moroff breathes with the help of a respirator (the atmosphere back home must be different in some way) while hauling heavy munitions on his broad frame. In the behind-the-scenes clip, we saw his wispy fur wafting as he ran, and in the new trailer he can be spotted scurrying for cover in the midst of a firefight on the Force-sacred world of Jedha. Moroff likes trouble. He’s a mercenary, and trouble is where the money is.

rogue-one-05

In Star Wars, planets come with only one environment (snow, water, desert, forest) but now it seems creatures of the same species can come in different varieties. We’ve seen the Mon Calamari before in the form of lobster-red Admiral Akbar ā€” first introduced in Return of the Jedi and still fighting the good fight 30-some years later in The Force Awakens. These are the same type of being, except in a hue of pale blue. Hey, color is only shell-deep.

rogue-one-06

Here we see Edrio Two Tubes and his brother (also known as an “egg-mate”) Benthic. Which is which … ? Edrio has the Darth Vader-looking chest plate. They’re mercenary pilots from the Empire-occupied world of Yar Togna, and they get their nickname (obviously) from the breathing apparatus that helps them breath human-friendly atmosphere.

rogue-one-07

This card doesn’t reveal the type of being we’re looking at, but they are pilgrims on the Force-sacred world of Jedha, where those with special sensitivity to this supernatural power, and those who simply have faith in it, venture to connect with each other and the beyond. The Empire also has designs on this world, hoping to rip from it elements necessary for their continued conquest of the galaxy. The masks of this trio call to mind the unusual helmets of the Guavian Death Gang, the red-armored figures pursuing Han Solo and Chewbacca in The Force Awakens. The cloaks they’ve shrouded themselves in suggest something commonplace from our world ā€“ the cocoons of a moth or butterfly. Maybe their journey to Jedha is part of a metamorphosis.

UPDATE 1!

alister

EW also spoke with director Gareth Edwards and revealed the name of the character played by actor Alistair Petrie (image above) who appears in the Rogue One trailers.

Rogue One director Gareth Edwards says no, Petrie is simply playing an Alliance leader we havenā€™t seen before. ā€œHis nameā€™s General Draven,ā€ Edwards says.

The filmmaker was surprised that wasnā€™t already widely known. ā€œItā€™s no official secret,ā€ he says. ā€œSometimes I read stuff online like itā€™s this big thing thatā€™s been leaked, and I thought, ā€˜Oh, I thought people knew that.ā€™ā€

This one bugs me, I thought generals were for land battles/armies and that an admiral would be more suitable to fly an X-Wing. Not a big deal though

Not at all. But saying not EVERYONE has to ALWAYS be SOMEONE from something before. Every single trailer or scene we see in every single movie or show makes these theories crop up. Enough with it.

Well…to be fair, the prequels were objectively terribly-made movies. TFA was a well-made movie. You can critique its unoriginality, or maybe you don’t like the story, or maybe you wanted more lightsabers or dinosaurs, but it was a well-made movie. The Prequels were simply not well-made.

For me TFA is getting worse each month. The only genius creation of that film is REY initial sequences and ILM efxs is always superb .

Kylo Ren is a coward , a bad example for our generation! When the film was released I was ok by the fact it goes along with Episode 4 structure. Now I think this was a lazy move by new Lucasfilm and Disney. The cantina scene in TFA sucks, the lightsabers duels is not good ( ex: Old Republic cinematics is MUCH more cool and well directed) ,
I hate the fact they killed Han Solo in EP7 and Poe history was lame as R2D2 history too .

For serious. Most of these critiques sound like the musings of a 12 year old. “Kylo is a pansy. He should have had way more Force power. Lightsaber duels sucked. Poe is OP.” And what about the movie? Was it a good movie? Dialogue? Acting? Story?

A good movie as the generations reunited movie event of the century ,it’s something that heals your soul and mind with the Force and Fantasy and Light, not some cinic pseudo antiheroes working for a industry of war and patricide. Waiting for Ep8 that will set us all for a good plot

If you didn’t understand… there is a simple scheme:

            – Light force fantasy and unicorns => REY
            – Cynicism capitalism violence and islamic terrorism ==> KYLO REN

The main lead is Rey; Kylo is the villain. What kind of cynicism are you able to find in this scheme? Which part won, at the end of the movie? The unicorns or the islamic terrorists?

Kylo represents everything negative and violent in a Entertainment industry, a culture of fear , that sells false anti heroes rmasks to children in every toy store. Vader didnt kill his son. This is a 2016 up notch for a film that reunites generations ? A coward (his son ) killing Han Solo ?
