Let’s zoom in on some of those Rogue One: A Star Wars Story photos that our friends at Entertainment Weekly released last week. Check out a much closer look via EW here!

Entertainment Weekly has posted LARGE photos from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The shots from last week revealed the characters, played by actors Felicity Jones, Forest Whitaker, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Riz Ahmed, Diego Luna, and Ben Mendelsohn. Also, there’s is a very good look at one of the cool new droids in the film named K-2SO (played by Alan Tudyk). Now all we need is a close-up of the evil Darth Vader! Well, as Master Qui-Gon Jinn would say: “Patience you must have, my young Padawan”

These new images from the film, showcased a few shots from the tropical planet where an immense action sequence reportedly takes place between the Rebels and the dreaded galactic Empire led by Darth Vader. As stated by producer Kathleen Kennedy earlier in production “Rogue One takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope and will be a departure from the saga films but have elements that are familiar to the Star Wars universe,”
Thanks to EW, fans will now be able to wallpaper their phone, laptop and tablets with the LARGER images which will allow them to show off the new film to their family and friends at work or at home.

Check out a few of them in the LARGE HD format here.

She’s purty but I wish they’d show she can do more emoting than that one pose we seen in all these pics and the trailer. She’s Academy Award nominated and theatrically trained so clearly she’s capable of doing more.

So you want her doing a series of kabuki theater shots?

We’ve seen her speak once? And maybe 3 or 4 other shots. I’m not worried. I’m sure she’ll be fine.

I just picked this up and something very interesting that I don’t think I saw commented on here (unless I missed it) was how Mads put in the thermal exhaust port as a fail safe due to his guilt over creating it.

In a way this sort of redeems the whole plot hole of the super weapon not being so invincible as planned. Yeah, It means that Palpatine and Tarkin overlooked it but neither of them were technical genius even though they both worshiped technology as their religion.

Plus Palpatine was probably more interested in expanding his territory and exploring the dark side while Tarkin was too involved with having a pissing match with other officers to notice the design flaw. I mean even when they do mention it in ANH he’s too arrogant to get off the space station for fear of losing his status and having Admiral Motti stage a mutiny.

Wouldn’t the design have to be signed off by senior management? A security review of them would be a part of that process.

Not sure the Empire had a great peer review process.

Remember: The Nazis were slow to implement STG-44’s because of their supreme leader’s psychotic obsession with the Mauser. Case in point, psychotic regimes aren’t always the smartest when it comes to military technology – pioneering, perhaps, but not tactically superior.

Gawd, have you ever actually MET senior management? Most of them couldn’t tell their ass from a hole in the ground, let alone spot a superfluous exhaust port.

Senior management aren’t expected to have such technical competence, but underneath them they’ll have senior architects and security managers who would.

Epic. Is this speculation or referenced in the EW articles?

How is a weakness in a design a plot hole? It’s a common theme throughout history, actually. Man designs “unstoppable death machine” and said machine is destroyed by exploiting a fatal flaw. It’s not a plot hole.

An almost-impossible-to-hit failsafe? That sounds more ‘fail’ than ‘safe’.

This is an amazing explanation! Absolutely love your theory. I would thumbs up twice if that was possible 😛 Your theory would explain why there is such a weak spot in an otherwise invinciple weapon. Some people said they think the tehory is unlikely because the failsafe is more “fail” than “safe”. However, maybe it was the only “loophole” in the security system of the Deathstar Mikkelsen’s character could use without Tarkin or Palpatine finding out about it.

The costume on that male character in the last photo reminds me of Battlestar Galatica! And on the other photo of him kneeling down, it looks like he has air hose fitting on his belt, which is funny, cause its an idea I used for a costume, I had the same thing (abit just 2)

I like the new SurfTroopers, those were missing from canon as we hadn’t had any beach scenes before. 🙂
