First Info on the Star Wars: Episode VIII Shoot at Ceann Sibeal!

ceann sibéal

Yesterday was the last day of filming in County Cork and today cast and crew are expected to move to their next location – Ceann Sibeal in West Kerry. This will be the main location of the Ireland shoot. They will spend there almost a whole week. This is the place where the beehive huts, which replicate the monastic village on Skellig Michael island, have been built in the last few weeks.

From RadioKerry:

A flurry of activity has erupted in West Kerry ahead of the six-day Star Wars shoot in Ceann Sibéal. Filming in the Corca Dhuibhne Gaeltacht began in earnest today with stunts scenes shot at Ceann Sibéal.

Production is also reportedly underway on scenes featuring Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey in the franchise. The shoot at Ceann Sibéal west of Dingle, where beehive huts have been constructed, is expected to last six days.

A no-fly-zone is in effect in the area until May 26th.

Filming at Ceann Sibéal will reportedly take place later in the day during the evenings and it is understood some Dingle restaurants have been approached to keep their kitchens open after 10pm. Dún Mór in Dún Chaoin, near Commenoule Strand and which was also featured in Ryan’s Daughter, is said to form the final part of the shoot.

Lead actor Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, Rian Johnson and Adam Driver flew into Ireland last week to shoot scenes at Malin Head in Donegal and Brow Head in Cork.

And here’s a nice video about the preparations from

Special thanks to our friend Terence Mulvey for the heads up.

Someone trademark it! Bound to be the name of a Jedi in a future novel.

      • May 21, 2016 at 8:28 am

Maybe a Jedi from Harloff Minor!

I suspect we will have a long and interesting training from Rey.

A friend of mine showed me an instagram leak that claims to come from staff involved in the organization of Star Wars celebration, and that says the title of ep. VIII is: the fall of the resistance. Is this an already confirmed fake?

    • May 20, 2016 at 10:55 am

Yeah they just happened to put out a poster with some reddish lighting behind it months before the Celebration takes place.Dude, convention centers ALWAYS mount secret promo material w/ elaborate lighting MONTHS before the event opens. 😉

Dude, I wasn’t convinced it was real, just looked for confirm

Pablo Hidalgo said the movie doesn’t have a title yet. It doesn’t have even have a working title at this point.

Be thankful it’s fake, because otherwise it will make the whole premise bleaker than The Force Awakens. If it’s true, then it making the whole trilogy hopeless and making us lose hope in caring what could happen to the protagonists.

speak for yourself, if that was the title I would’ve wondered who would face the First Order

          • May 20, 2016 at 6:20 pm

…Could be the new Jedi led by Luke and Rey perhaps.

          • May 20, 2016 at 7:01 pm

They can’t rebuild a militarily effective order not even in a couple years… and by that time FO would control the entire galaxy

          • May 20, 2016 at 6:35 pm

            It’s just speculation, man.

      • May 20, 2016 at 5:33 pm

        working title is space bear

        • May 20, 2016 at 7:40 pm

wasn’t that just the working title for TFA?

          • May 20, 2016 at 7:45 pm

            Nope, this one

          • May 21, 2016 at 8:27 am

TFA’s working title was Foodles, if I recall correctly.
