Egerton, Reynor and Teller on the Recent Han Solo Cast Rumors

Han Solo 03

With the new Han Solo movie on the horizon, finding a young actor to play the role of the young smuggler in Disney’s announced Star Wars spin-off is becoming the talk of the Star Wars universe.

More than 2,000 actors reportedly met with Disney and Lucasfilm for the role, and while that number hasn’t been officially confirmed, two actors up for the role discuss rumors about playing the swashbuckling hero.

Taron Egerton talked about the possibility of playing a younger version of Han Solo in a new “Star Wars” film In a recent appearance on “The Jonathan Ross Show,” a late night show in the U.K.. Egerton was asked if he was playing the young version of the character Harrison Ford made famous.

“I’ve heard this rumor, yes. I mean, I’ve seen the stuff on the Internet, and I think any lad of my age would kill to play a part like that,” he said. “It’s very, very flattering. I have no idea if there’s any truth in it, but I mean, Lucasfilm, Disney, if there is, then you know where I am.”

Watch Egerton’s answer below:

Earlier this year, MTV NEWS caught up with Jack Reynor (“Sing Street”) another actor rumored to be on the shortlist and was asked about the Han Solo rumor.

“We’re talking about Harrison Ford. He’s no chump,” Reynor said. “You can’t do an imitation. You can’t try and just emulate what that is. It’s got to be something new. It’s also got to be something that the audience is going to respond to.”
That being said, getting the opportunity to play the coolest guy in the galaxy, and drive the Millennium Falcon, “would be kind of an incredible gig to get,” Reynor added.

Fast forward to a few days ago when JOE.IE sat down with Jack Reynor and asked him about the very exciting Star Wars Han Solo rumours.

“We’ll see what happens with that,” Reynor said. “Obviously, that’s a more coveted role. That would be an amazing thing to do for any actor. I’d love to be a part it. If I get a chance to do that movie you can bet your bottom dollar I’m going to be doing it. We’ll see where the dice fall,” Reynor added.

There really isn’t much to hang your hat on in these interviews but we seems to be getting closer to finding our young Han Solo.

Still with all the actors rumored to play the young Solo there was one other actor who hadn’t seen the original trilogy until a few months before his audition.

On a recent happysadconfused podcast , Miles Teller said he only watched the films because he thought

“I should check this out” before auditioning to play the fan favourite. “I had never even seen any of the original Star Wars movies until maybe a month or a couple weeks before my first audition because I was like, ‘I should check this out’” Teller said. “It holds up. I just love Harrison Ford. I think that’s a great character. I love his brand, I mean so many guys would’ve played that part so wrong and he has humor at the right times. Harrison Ford is a very big actor, when you see the facial expressions and the things he does he goes big, but he’s just always the coolest guy in the room and he’s got all of those great qualities.” Teller added.

Regardless of who gets the role the untitled young Han Solo film is scheduled to hit theaters May 25, 2018.

They just smacked their heads at how forgetful they were. Can’t believe we completely let that multimillion dollar movie slip our minds! Someone call somebody and see if the director is actually filming or just sleeping off a hangover in some bar!

Jokes aside… I think they realize if they constantly assault people with Star Wars they could experience fatigue. So a bit of quiet before the next storm isn’t a terrible idea.

People were saying similar things about The Force Awakens, and then we got bombarded with 30 tv spots! I’m sure Disney have it planned out.

I know, It was hilarious! I literally saw comments like

“There’s no marketing for this movie, it’s gonna bomb big time!”

Then 70 TV spots cam out and the movie made $2 billion dollars.

Good point – balancing marketing with not fatiguing people is going to be a very, very tricky balancing act with a SW movie every year.

Probably going to see a teaser May 4th, and then get a trailer at Star Wars Celebration. And the teaser will probably have some Vader Breathing…. perhaps a line.

Out of these two actors, judging their level of evasiveness ( or not ), I’d say Taron Edgerton probably knows more than he is letting on. Jack Reynor is a bright young actor too, but his candidness probably means he may be out of the running now.

It may be possible too that the part of Han has already been cast.

Shoot it all Hobbit style, building 3/4 scale sets and children in the main casts’ wardrobe when shot from behind.

Well, what the video with Taron Egerton proves is that the rumor of him having been doing auditions for the part which was circulating as fact a couple or so days ago was apparently NOT true. Also he is way TOO short to play Han which should be a definite no. Pass on him definitely. I’m also glad to hear that Miles Teller has not been chosen. That would have been a really awful choice. The only one of the 3 who appears to actually been/be in consideration is Jack Reynor. In any case, playing Han Solo would be an incredibly challenging act to pull…

With platform shoes and computers, anyone can be tall enough to play Han Solo.

      Anyone.

Jack Reynor seems cool. I agree with the interviewer, I’d like to see how he would tackle “Die Hard”, way more likable than Jai Courteney, by a long shot.

Also his smile, his smile is sort of the same kind of smile that Ford has, I know that sounds weird typing those words but he could pass as Han.

But really, if Jack got his own role in any action movie, I’d watch it.

The rest of these guys besides Taron Edgerton look nothing like Han Solo so I really hope they choose him. That is, if it’s for sure down to these people. I honestly would rather the person look like Han Solo than act very well. Obviously, you need both but the looks are more important to me.

A Han Solo spin off would be a great idea because of what happened to him in Star Wars VII. It would be pretty hard to pull off though, because you would need to think of a great backstory. If they make a backstory like Rey’s, I will be disappointed.
