Campea is spot on about the Fox News stuff. The way the community reacted was a little too much. We aren’t victims. Some people just don’t like Star Wars, so what.

Sometimes I find that Campea himself takes a holier than thou approach to the fan community. Even though I agree with 95 percent of his views most of the time, on this occassion I would say that he is not the arbiter of my ( or any other fan’s ) emotional state – if we are ( en masse ) offended by the morons at Fox News, then we are offeneded.
We can rise above it, ignore it, sure, but if we wish to counter and rebuff Fox News that is not a wrong or uncalled for thing to do.

I think Campea being patronising to fans who took offense is probably more hurtful than what even what these Fox News people said.

Really disagree with John Campea about the Fox News stuff, and AGREE 100 percent with Kristian – For me, Fox News is a disgrace in any capacity, and this was just icing on the cake.
It wasn’t a case of the ‘Star Wars community’ over-reacting, it was masses of individuals who rightly took offense to the way these moronic Fox News hosts acted and patronised their guest ( even if their guest wasn’t necessarily the most versed SW fan they could have spoken to ).

Dislike or hate Star Wars to your heart’s content, that’s your choice, but to belttle and mock people is another thing.

Obvioulsy Fox News likes to push itself as being righteous and high and mighty on all things, when in fact it is a laughing stock around the world – and I DO mean a LAUGHING STOCK.

Wait.. Who was stiff during Daisy’s filming?

John Campea, perfect analysis and totally 100% correct. If the interview in question was broadcast on CNN or MSNBC instead of Fox News, there would never be a single peep from anyone. This is nothing but a way for Fox News haters to rant about it.

Does anyone reading this truly get completely upset when a random person someplace calls them a freak and disagrees with their fandom?

People are pretty thin-skinned these days. At the end of the day, Star Wars is a movie franchise. If some guy on Fox News hates on it, so what. Time to move on with our lives.

It’s pretty surreal to think that we are nearly a month away from a new trilogy. Big question I have is if there are going to be new real fans of the upcoming three, Right now everyone is drunk off the hype right now after being starved to death for so long but will the film still have fans years later? Thing is that PT fans don’t really exist or at least in large enough numbers to even qualify as cult. I know ones who think “they didn’t suck as bad as everyone said they did” and those that grudgingly accept it as part of the saga but they hardly qualify as genuine fans of the prequels. I’ve yet to meet anyone in person who thinks that the PT can stand toe to toe with the OT or said it had the kind of impact on their life that the original trilogy did. Even the ones I know who were kids and grew up loving I-III as kids now prefer ANH/TESB/ROTJ as adults. So I’m really curious if the three new ones (and spinoffs) will stand the test of time in the way that the old ones did or at the very least do what the PT did not and have their own true fanbase.

I see your point and agree wholeheartedly… however I do fear this may be a product of my age (born early 70’s). My wife (who had never seen SW and whose first experience was TPM – yes, in hindsight I regret sharing my SW love with her using TPM as the opener…) has no interest whatsoever, and has kindly agreed to join me viewing TFA simply because she can see how much it means to me… I made a lightsaber for a grade school event at 9yo (to go with my Bespin Fatigues) and ALL the kids knew what it was and loved it to the point that it was “stolen”

That’s awesome! Like Beatlemania, I think the original Star Wars phenomonon is something that can never quite be recreated but it’s still fun to speculate up until the moment of release. Revenge Of The Sith is my bar of quality far as this one goes, Long as it’s as good as that then I’m happy. I’m not sure they can make another Empire even if Kershner returned from the dead and Lucas remembered why he became a film maker in the first place but making a film as good as or better than Episode III is very possible. If they don’t then there’s always the next two and spin-offs right around the corner.

Well up until a few months ago, They done a good job keeping this one secret. We still don’t know everything yet but it’s much beter than the PT when everything got leaked left and right. For the next one, I’d do away with the mystery box approach where they restrict everything till the last minute and go back to the OT amount of spoilers.

That’s a great way of putting it! It certainly makes the wait go by faster as well too. I’ll give you a follow in Disquis but I’m following someone else and it never really alerts me to their posts so I’ll just keep checking my e-mail for yours instead,

All the Star Wars sites tend to use it now, I like it when it doesn’t take forever to load. Same for me too and just look up the other SW sites if this one ever goes down if you want to find me. I try to check them all at least once a day.

Fox News is a TV news channel created in 1996 to compete with CNN. It is currently the most popular TV news channel by a wide margin. What makes Fox News unique is that it presents all sides of issues — not just the typical liberal-biased viewpoints. Every other TV news division is heavily liberal-biased, and won’t even broadcast many important stories that are not favorable to liberal politicians. For example, if there were no Fox News, everyone would still believe that the Benghazi attack was started by a video posted on YouTube. Or maybe they would never have even heard about Benghazi. Fox News is constantly besmirched as being biased towards conservatives because the opinion shows that air on the network are typically hosted by conservative-leaning hosts. The hard news programs however are straight-up news, and hosts of hard news shows are from all sides of the political landscape (e.g., Shepard Smith is known to be a left-wing guy).
