Update on the Refresh Problems.

We did several things to fix this issue that some of our readers had. People reported that the issue is fixed now but others still have problems, possibly because of the way their internet provider handles cache. Anyone that still has problems with getting the latest content can use this url in their bookmarks: https://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/?123. This will always load the latest page. Anyone with issues please make a comment in this article. I want to see what % of our readers has this issue.

I had problems, but thanks to Viral Hide’s help, the problems are over. However, I am afraid that those who still have problems will not be able to see this article, and therefore will be unable to post any responses to it.

They can see it from Facebook, Twitter or their email subscription. And most of the time the issue happens on a certain device and browser.

I’m still having the refresh problem on two different computers (work and home). I thought the site wasn’t updating and had no new content since Dec 1 until I noticed the twitter feed on the right…

I’m still having problems, however, it is limited to Google Chrome and Firefox. For some reason I am able to the view everything properly on Internet Explorer but not the rest. Also, the link does work for me.

Hi Viral. I think you’ve fixed it this time.I was able to see 2 new posts since the last time i’v cleared (yesterday at night) so I hope it’s ok now(Chrome user, windows 7).

However, i’m still having the issue on my smartphone (Galaxy S4, with Chrome.

Yes, the clearing of the cache from a smartphone is different. I believe in time the cache will update on your phone too.

Yes I had the problem, using Chrome. Was wondering why no news for so long.

I’ve been having the problem with Chrome as well (haven’t tried other browsers). Clearing the cache did not fix the issue. I just go to http://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/2014/12 to get around it.

If I use the “123” url or the link to the “2014” posts, it works, but starwarsnewsnet.com will still load older posts. If I clear my cache, it will only work for that session. So any other users going to the main page may still not know what’s going on. I’m using Chrome on Win 7…

I still have the problem on Google Chrome Windows 7 but it can be fixed very easily. So don’t need any cache cleaning, just after I open the site and see the article about George not seen the trailer I just refresh the page and it’s magically fixed!

Now I closed and reopened the browser and there was no problem… I think it will reappear if I reboot the computer…

Have the problem. Using Chrome. Cleared cache the other day which updated it once, but been stuck there since. Seems to update if i literally refresh, but using a bookmark or the home button on the front page takes me to old content (until i do a literal refresh).

Thought there was no new content for the longest time until i clicked on the 2014 archive the other day.

Wow, the home page said Monday. Turns out, there’s nothing that I missed because all the other sites kept me up to date. Other sites don’t have this problem, and now I’ve realized that all the news here is pretty much second-hand anyway. I should’t have to clear my cache to visit a site, so see you later.

We’re starting to understand the problem now. As you know the problem started in the day the trailer was released. The huge amount of visits that date caused the site to crash. Obviously something was reset that day and people had trouble seeing a new content after that. Our traffic hasn’t decreased one bit since the trailer was released which makes me think that very few people had this problem.
99% of our readers don’t have this problem.
I’m starting to think that it has to do with the internet provider of the people who had problems. Different providers treat cache differently. Probably some providers update their cache in longer intervals.
As you can see when more time passes more and more people say that they don’t have this issue anymore.
If you continue to have this problem then you probably are not deleting the cache cand refreshing correctly. There are many step by step guides on Google how to clear your cache depending on your device.
Sorry for the inconvenience guys but this one is really out of our control. We’re taking measures for the site to whithstand a huge peak in visits.
If you want personal help with something send me an email on viralhide@gmail.com

    Thanks for your patience.

I was having this problem and I added the /?123 to the end of the sites name in my favs. After that I refreshed and the news from the 5th went away and the current up-to-date news is up now. thanks, I have been using my phone for this site since the 5th because my internet explore would not pull up anything new since the 5th. Oh and I delete all cookies, extra.. upon exiting internet explore every time, so I know its not on my end, but SWE7news end.

I’m one of the people that had a problem & now it’s fixed. It was fixed the day you posted to the thread in the Cantina that you had discovered a code problem. No problems since then.

I had the problem, on the three different computers I use (home, work, etc.), and it started for all of them at the same time.

    The problem has stopped today.

I check this site every day and it is only today that I have noticed the problem is fixed.

I still have the problem, and at the old URL, all I get is the trailer announcement. Even the count-down clock, though still running, claims there are 382 days left instead of 369. Well, now I’ve bookmarked the alternative URL, and things seem to be working fine.

This has just resolved for me today, UK afternoon. Since I think the 1st of November I was seeing the (?)Good Morning America story. Today I applied a ‘Shift-F5’ to fully refresh, so not exactly sure if that did the trick or if your back-end repairs did it !! But thanks for coming back to life for me !!
