‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3 Wins Outstanding Stunt Performance Emmy

The Mandalorian season 3 emerged victorious on the first night of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards. In the category of Outstanding Stunt Performance, Lateef Crowder, Paul Darnell, JJ Dashnaw, and Ryan Ryusaki took home a statue for their work on “Chapter 24: The Return.” The third season was a contender in eight other categories on Saturday night.

This is the 15th Emmy Award The Mandalorian has taken home over the course of three seasons, and the second season in a row they take home the award in this particular category. They were up against FBI: Most Wanted, and two episodes of Stranger Things season 4.

The other categories they were up for included: Outstanding Cinematography for Half-Hour Series (taken by Atlanta), Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes (taken by House of the Dragon), Outstanding Period and/or Character Hairstyling (won by Queen Charlotte), Outstanding Period and/or Character Makeup (Non-Prosthetic), which The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel took home, Outstanding Sound Editing for Half-Hour Series (won by The Bear), Outstanding Sound Mixing for Half-Hour Series (The Bear, again), Outstanding Visual Effects (which The Last of Us won), and Outstanding Stunt Coordination, which The Mandalorian had won in previous years, but was taken by The Boys this time around.

The televised Emmy Awards will be held on Monday, January 15. The Mandalorian will not be present there, as the nine categories it was nominated in have already been called. But Star Wars will still have a presence through Andor, which is up for multiple awards including Best Drama Series (likely to go to Succession, though), and Obi-Wan Kenobi, which is up for Best Limited or Anthology Series.
