Kevin Kiner Says Score for ‘Ahsoka’ Episodes 1-4 Coming Out on Friday, September 15

While we’re still on a high from watching Part Five of Ahsoka, there is more good news coming from Dave Filoni’s show. Series composer Kevin Kiner has said on social media that the score for the first four episodes is planned to be released this Friday, September 15. (Disclosure: Film Music Reporter did include the date in a story on August 25, but we missed it at the time; Kevin Kiner also retweeted the link now, giving credence to it.)

With the majority of the above-the-line talent from the series on strike (that includes all the actors, as well as series writer Dave Filoni), Kiner has been one of the few champions of the show on Twitter since it began. After teasing an emotional fifth episode before it aired, the composer took to his Twitter to write: “yes. those themes are in those moments you’re correct #Ahsoka”. When asked about the release date for the score, he replied:

We’ve speculated since the beginning that they would be splitting the score into two albums as they did for all three seasons of The Mandalorian; Andor had three albums of four episodes each, too. Kevin Kiner did confirm in another reply that this was the plan for Ahsoka as well:

With Ahsoka, Kevin Kiner finally made the jump to live-action Star Wars after years of fans asking he’d be hired to do a movie or a show. It was the perfect opportunity for him, given how much the series is rooted in the franchise’s animated past, and especially because of the man at the helm, his dear friend Dave Filoni. And if the first five episodes are any indication (and especially the fifth one), he’s aced the assignment so far and we’re pretty much ready to say it’d be one of the biggest missed opportunities ever if they didn’t bring him back for Dave Filoni’s upcoming theatrical film. (We’re getting a bit ahead of ourselves here, but there’s good reason for it.)

Disney Music Group did not reply to an email asking for confirmation.

There are three more episodes to go, and plenty of room for Kiner to outdo himself. You can check out Rosie’s review of Part Five here, and look forward to SWNN Live! returning on Thursday night to discuss it in depth.
