‘Star Wars: The Deckbuilding Game’ Available Now

Star Wars: The Deckbuilding Game has been released today. This new, two-player game from Fantasy Flight Games puts you right in the middle of the conflict between the Galactic Empire and Rebel Alliance. You and your opponent must choose a side, and as the game progresses, you will strengthen your starting decks to destroy your opponent’s bases. Bring balance to the Force by being the first to destroy three enemy bases and winning the game!

The game is now available from the Asmodee store and select retailers for an MSRP of $37.99 USD.

And the best part? It’s easy to learn! To start the game, both players begin with a ten-card deck aligned to their faction. While the initial deck won’t pack the punch necessary to win, it lays the groundwork to allocate more resources needed to take down your opponent.

At the center of the table lies the galaxy deck and galaxy row. The galaxy deck has Imperial, Rebel, and neutral cards. Next to this deck are always six cards laid out face-up that make up the galaxy row. Imperial-aligned cards face Team Empire, while the Rebellion-aligned cards face Team Rebel Alliance, and the neutral cards are positioned sideways so both players can read them.

Use your deck resources to purchase faction or neutral cards. Purchase more and more to grow your faction’s power.

Now that you have some firepower, it’s time to attack. While you can use your cards to attack the enemy base, you can also use them to attack cards of your opponents on the galaxy row. But don’t forget to use the Force! The balance of the Force can turn the tide of the battlefield, and this is displayed through the “Balance of the Force track”.

Several cards have abilities that read: “if the Force is with you..” This special ability can only be used when the Force marker is on your side of the “Balance of the Force track”. Every time Force is gained, the Force marker is moved toward your side of the track, and if the Force is all the way to your side at the start of your turn, you gain one additional resource for that turn which can be critical in toppling the enemy.

Whether you’re an avid player of tabletop games or are just trying for the first time, Star Wars: The Deckbuilding Game delivers quick and faithful Star Wars fun for everyone.
