‘Andor’ Composer Nicholas Britell Talks Music in ‘The Eye’

Yet another brief Andor featurette puts the spotlight on composer Nicholas Britell and how he approached the score for episode 6 of the show.

The Eye has quickly become a fan-favorite episode of Star Wars television, packing all the tension from previous chapters and thrilling action, with the breathtaking visuals provided by the Eye of Aldhani being the cherry on top. And of course, a great episode of Star Wars needs a stellar soundtrack, and Nicholas Britell delivered once again.

Watch the new featurette below:

Britell says the basis for the episode’s climax was that two things were happening at the same time, so he tried to capture Aldhani and the phenomenon while also giving a specific melody to the natives’ festival. He also reveals he created a sound for the Eye itself that almost feels like a voice, with the natives’ chanting mirroring that sound. No word on the other pieces that accompanied the episode though.

This new Andor featurette joins another that also arrived this week and gave us a look into the approach showrunner Tony Gilroy and Diego Luna chose for the second story arc of the series. While we’ve received more of these in previous weeks, it seems Lucasfilm has spent more time promoting the three-episode arc that generated the most buzz.
