The official Star Wars site has just revealed the cover of Empire Magazine’s Thursday issue which will focus on Rogue One, promising to reveal unprecedented access to the Star Wars war movie.

UPDATE!

Here’s Empire’s official article on the cover revealing that there will be another cover revealed tomorrow with the bad guys:

From Empire:

This is just the first of our Rogue One covers to be revealed. A second, alternate cover will debut tomorrow (Friday 19th) at 5pm; the exclusive limited edition subscribers cover to be unveiled on Monday. Keep your eyes peeled for those.

Featuring unprecedented on-set access to director Gareth Edwards and his crew, the Rogue One issue of Empire goes on sale Thursday August 25, available in all good and Imperial-affiliated newsagents. Subscribers will be receiving theirs a few days earlier – one of many reasons why it’s worth subscribing to Empire. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, meanwhile, blasts into cinemas from December 16.

Be wary! Anything printed in EMPIRE magazine will most certainly have an Imperial bias against the rebellion.

Ditto. I always look forward to a quality Bantha quip on each article.

Trailer turned me off it a bit. Fassbender is the only reason I still hope it’s good.

IDK. Besides the Kanye song I thought it at least felt like assassin’s creed. I would like to see another trailer though.

I think the rumor I read was that the film is going to spend a HELL of a lot of its runtime in the present day, like, better than half. Agree with Adavanter – Fassbender is the only reason I have any interest at all.

Just noticed that Jyn has the same type of stripe down the sleeve of her jacket that Han has down the side of his trouser leg in The Empire Strikes Back.

Don’t quote me on this, but I think the stripes on Han’s pants were a military marking of some type from correllia, but he never wore the matching top. I wonder if this is a correlian military top then

I think I remember hearing something like that. He had red stripes in A New Hope but gained yellow stripes after his involvement in The Battle of Yavin. Also don’t quote me on that.

I think it would almost be weird if he doesn’t. How they’re going to do it though…

A while back it was rumored that it would be a full cgi recreation but from all I’ve heard I think that was scrapped. Personally I’d love for his role to be kept in hologram form so any cgi or recasting isn’t as jarring

Yeah, it feels the movie is a little trapped. It will feel odd if there’s no Tarkin but re-casting him for a movie that is kind of designed to be watched back-to-back with ANH is likely to be jarring.

It’s happened many times before in movies. Ringo Starr turned into Adam Faith (That’ll Be The Day / Stardust) for instance!!!! and Katie Holmes turned into Maggie Gyllenhall in The Dark Knight. and then there’s the James Bond series…….

Well yeah, but Star Wars hasn’t done it without at least a decade or more in-universe between the incarnations of the character — Obi Wan, Mon Mothma — or a pretty major transformation — Anakin. I’m not saying they should avoid it at all costs, just that it will be tricky to do right and keep consistency with the original trilogy.
