Incom UT-60 D (U-Wing) –  A Inside Look At Star Wars’ New Gunship from ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’.

Previously we knew the following about this ship:

U-Wing

As we told you before the Incom UT-60 D (aka U-Wing) was first seen on the Rogue One concept art shown at Celebration Anaheim a year ago:

Rogue One

During the BTS Rogue One footage shown at Celebration 2016 you can briefly see a crashed U-Wing  similar to the one we’ve seen during the filming:

U-Wing

Also, fans may remember the alien ” Space Monkey” who appeared briefly in the ‘Rogue One’ sizzle reel at Celebration Europe. You can see the rebel firing a huge gun and laughing it up in front of a huge door aboard some kind of a Rebel gunship. It was confirmed during Celebration that this is an U-Wing.

Based on these we concluded before that the U-Wing is not just a regular fighter. Now all this has been officially confirmed. Enjoy:

Cool, an actual troop transport! I always thought it was a little weird that the Rebels didn’t have much in terms of a counter to the Imperial shuttle.

I’m guessing the crashes ship is not “a” U-wing, it’s “the” U-wing. This would explain it’s absence from all subsequent movies.

Awesome! I hope this design pops up in episode 8 or at least some other sources like rebels. I hate it when cool designs wind up being one-and-done
