Clone Wars Weekly Comic Series From IDW Announced

On the heels of an exciting new trailer, publisher IDW (via The Hollywood Reporter just announced Star Wars Adventures: The Clone Wars – Battle Tales. IDW has been putting out some excellent books in their Star Wars Adventures series and Clone Wars will no doubt add to their already stellar line-up.

From The Hollywood Reporter:

The series will be a five-issue anthology similar to IDW’s Tales From Vader’s Castle and Return to Vader’s Castle minis, written by Michael Moreci with a framing sequence each issue from Derek Charm (The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, Jughead) as the heroes from the animated series share war stories while pinned down in the middle of the conflict. Beyond Charm’s contributions, each issue will feature a different artist, with Arianna Florean, Megan Levens, Valentina Pinto, Davide Tinto and Philip Murphy on hand to draw the five issues, respectively.

This sounds really cool! Though it’s not entirely clear if these stories will work in tandem with the episodes of the final season, the scale of Clone Wars gives writer Michael Moreci a lot of possibilities to work with. It will be exciting to see each perspective of the five different artists tasked with bringing the stories to life on the page. Moreci helmed the wonderful Flight of the Falcon series, so this isn’t his first time in the galaxy far, far away. The SWNN comic review team will be standing by to bring you reviews of this series as they drop. Also, don’t forget to add these to your pull list at your local shop because I have a feeling they will be flying off the shelf.

Star Wars Adventures: The Clone Wars – Battle Tales arrives in shops and digital comic retailers April 1. The final season of The Clone Wars debuts exclusively on Disney+ February 21. 2020 is shaping up to be a great year for Star Wars fans!
