Werner Herzog Reveals He’s Playing a Villain in “The Mandalorian”

While promoting his recent documentary Meeting Gorbachev, director Werner Herzog let a few details slip on his secret role in the highly anticipated Star Wars live action series, The Mandalorian.

In an interview with IndieWire (via JediNews), the German director was asked about his recent acting roles which span everything from Parks and Recreation to a voice role on Rick and Morty and offered this little tidbit:

Now this is not a secret anymore, a small part, real small part, in “The Mandalorian”, the Star Wars sequel or whatever you call it. I like to do it because I know I’m good on screen, but only if I have to play a real villain.

Not much is known about the mysterious Disney+ series but that should all change next month when the newly announced panel for The Mandalorian makes a splash at Star Wars Celebration in Chicago. We’ve already seen a behind the scenes picture of Taika Waititi voicing what appears to be a certain IG assassin droid – could Herzog be voicing a reptilian hunter with a knack for flashy yellow space suits? Or an entirely new foil for our armored hero? More clues are only three weeks away but for now, sound off in the comments and head over to the Cantina to let us know who you think Werner Herzog could be playing.
