Star Wars Episode IX Footage Description Revealed

Star Wars Episode IX

While we did not get an official title reveal for Star Wars Episode IX at Disney’s recent presentation for their shareholders, they did reveal a sizzle reel of footage for the crowd that was present. That footage won’t hit the internet for a while (if ever), but a description for it has arrived.

Scott Ladewig recently attended Disney’s 2019 meeting for their shareholders and was willing to share some information about all the movies that he saw to inquiring fans, including Star Wars Episode IX. He started off with a brief overview of some of the key scenes, many of which focus on the film’s four leads: Rey, Finn, Poe, and Kylo Ren.

A fourth character is present in the Millennium Falcon in the scene with three of the leads of the Sequel Trilogy are in the cockpit.

Kylo Ren does not wear a helmet in this scene. His appearance seems to be the same as it was in Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi.

Also worth noting is that Kylo Ren is in a room reminiscent of Darth Vader’s meditation room seen in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. In the scene shown, he appeared to be distraught.

Meanwhile, the interior of the ship resembled that of the Tantive IV from the opening sequence of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, although it was likely a new ship altogether.

Lando Calrissian also appears in this sizzle reel of Star Wars Episode IX footage, and Rey visits what appears to be a repurposed version of the “Exotic City” design that went unused in The Force Awakens.

The footage that was shown went by quickly, but one thing that Ladewig remembers was a number of behind-the-scenes shots of Daisy Ridley preparing for her own stunts.

Rey’s hairstyle is apparently the same as it was in Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi in the scenes where her hair was bunched up.

When asked about if any major space battle sequences were shown, Ladewig explained that he didn’t think that they were far enough into post-production to show anything.

Ladewig also stated that he wasn’t sure if any of the other cast additions to Star Wars Episode IX appeared in the sizzle reel.

However, he also noted that the Knights of Ren were not part of the sizzle reel.

Special thanks to Sleemo for bringing Ladewig’s insight to our attention.

Star Wars Episode IX will be released on December 20, 2019.
