RUMOR: Star Wars: Episode IX Footage Might Hit This Month
If a recent rumor is to be believed, Star Wars fans may be in for a holiday treat in the days ahead. According to the folks at Collider, we may be getting our first glimpse of Episode IX before the end of the year.
When we were kids, my sister and I sometimes got to open one of our Christmas presents early, and the excitement I felt then is akin to the excitement I’m feeling now at the prospect of some Episode IX footage. So maybe we’ll all get an early present this year in the form of a Star Wars teaser. At this point, a December without a Star Wars movie feels off anyway, so it will be great to see a little something this month.
A few days ago, Collider’s Steven Weintraub posted this:
to those wondering, December is ALWAYS a huge month for new trailers. If you’re a Disney fan, you can look forward to the first footage from #Frozen2 and @starwars episode 9 this month. Would be shocked if both aren’t revealed by December 25th. pic.twitter.com/mylWXs6vyq

While the tweet didn’t sound like a full confirmation of the footage, today our friends from Jedi Council posted their latest episode with confidence that Episode IX footage is indeed coming:
Also, our friend Jordan Maison from Cinelinx shared that he also has heard some rumors from his sources:
Guess I’ll elaborate. Again, I’d only heard from one source (so never ran with it). I’d heard a while back to expect a #StarWars IX title before year’s end. Another source said (ONE) potentially a quick teaser was in the works. That’s pretty much all I have.

We’ll have to wait and see if this pans out, but I for one am super excited to see what J. J. Abrams and the gurus at Lucasfilm have been working on with the final chapter of the sequel trilogy. Maybe we’ll at least get a title announcement soon. Weintraub definitely has his connections in Hollywood, so here’s to hoping his info is on point!
