Dave Filoni Reveals the Darksaber Origins in New Clip from the Star Wars: Rebels Blu-ray!
We are 4 short days away from the release of the third season of Star Wars Rebels on Blu Ray and with it we are getting more and more behind the scenes looks into the previous season.
In this newly released clip by io9, series creator Dave Filoni explains how he took what George Lucas had started with the Darksaber and ran with it. Revealing that Lucas wrote the dialogue Pre Vizla says to Obi-Wan in the Clone Wars and going one step further, that it belonged and was created by the first Mandolorian Jedi. Making the saber something incredibly significant to both Sabine and the Mandolrians as a whole turning it to a major plot point for this season and the next.
It’s a great feature if you like Mandolrians and the Darksaber in general and gives keys insights into the lore. You can check out the clip at io9 here and pick up the Blu Ray when it drops on August 29.

Just a guess, I’m thinking late September or early October.
Let’s hope whatever follows Rebels will NOT be on Disney XD.

Imperial Units are even not used by the Empire (UK) who created them.
Combining a Base 12 units in a Base 10 numeration is a headache.
I wonder the Base/Units used by the Galactic Empire, First Order…
And the Base/Units by the Republic/Resistance.
I wonder Republic uses an universal system (french revolution) and based on the size of the Galaxy (meters) or the temperatures of Freezing/ Boiling water in Coruscant (Celsius).
Empire, probably will use a more autarchic system based on the circunference of the head of the Emperor as foot and the diameter of Vader thumbs as inches in a fraction of 1/17.
There is reason to believe that the Empire used a decimal system. From memory the distance to the shield generator on Hoth had a decimal point in it when Veers requested it in his walker.

As a kid in the UK who was taught both Imperial and Metric, this stood out to me. I remember being not too keen that they were using earth-based measuring systems. Thanks for bringing that memory back 🙂
Yes I think Luke in ANH use a Base 10 system before he trusted better in the FORZE.
A meter initially was the Ten Millionth part of the Quadrant of the circumference of the Earth. It is not a coincidence the Earth circumference is 40 000 km.
Feet and inches are based on human sizes, so for design should be more helpful as all human sizes are related, but in fact it is easier to operate with the metric system.
Miles I think are coming from the Roman Millia, 1000 roman Steps, they were actually 2 steps. But as you can imagine finnally each country or county ended with a foot and mile size different.
French revolution wanted to change all that.
1 kg is the weight of 1 dm3 of water, 0.1mX0.1mX0.1m, so 1 metric ton is 1mX1mX1m weight of water, for example.

How about Luke having that Darksaber in TLJ? I mean, he went for research of Jedi history and mysteries, looking for first Jedi Temple,maybe he has it now somehow. I know last time we saw i, Sabine has it, but maybe it will somehow get to old Jedi Temple again. Everybody wants Luke with Green Lightsaber from ROTJ again, I think this will be much cooler

Quick Question: How can Tarre Vizsla be a Mandalorian Jedi? The Jedi take children at a very young age, so Vizsla would have no connection to his birthplace culture, making him just a Jedi. If some Muun is taken to Jedi Temple, he will become a Jedi, not a Jedi Banker.

Yeah, a 2 foot saber would be WAY smaller than even a toy lightsaber.
Good thing they are listing the metric measures with FIVE or even SIX decimals! Shouldn’t the metric measures be the round numbers, since people have wisely gone metric in the Galaxy? Already in the 1977 movie, we learnt that the target area on the Death Star was “two meters wide” (just like the Womp rats Luke used to target from his speeder).
As an American that has grown up on the English System, I can say that I don’t care for it very much. I wish us Yanks would adopt the metric system. For some strange reason we’re holding out – even the English don’t use the English System anymore. That should be telling. Having everything in base 10 just makes too much sense….
