Jyn Saves a Tooka-Cat in Forces of Destiny Episode The Stranger
The seventh released episode of Star Wars: Forces of Destiny has a title The Stranger. In the episode, Jyn Erso plays a role of Superman – she saves a cat, not from a tree, but from stormtroopers.
We don’t know the location or exact timeline of the episode. It is certainly some time after Jyn’s separation from Saw Gerrera as she is a grown woman. The structure that ends the episode has an interesting hexagonal shape, but I cannot remember if we have seen it before. If someone can pinpoint the location, leave a comment.
Jyn witnesses stormtroopers harassing a little girl over a tooka-cat. The girl is clearly alone as she states that cat is her only friend. Jyn decides to intervene in her usual style.

Staff member, comic and book reviewer. Cheers for the Light Side, but would drink with Grand Admirals.
Three things:
1) Jyn doesn’t use her telescoping riot baton. This made me sad. I hope there’s another short with her snapping it out and using it!
2) The gun she uses. It’s the same model that Jyn acquired at the Yavin Rebel base (in the comic adaptation, it’s shown she swipes it from a Rebel soldier). So is it likely that Jyn, prior to Rogue One, would have already owned the same model gun? (Yeah, the doll comes with this gun model, so this short has to maintain this continuity, but it seems unlikely in the scheme of things. Yes I overthought this! lol)
3) That moment when the little girl asks what’s Jyn’s name, and Jyn hesitates for a moment. This indicates whether she’ll use one of her aliases.
I think it took longer to read this than watch the cartoon itself 😀
It’s really bizarre that she uses her real last name; in Rebel Rising it was mentioned on multiple occasions that it was considered by Saw extremely dangerous and most of his rebels knew her simply as Jyn while Saw considered her to be his daughter calling her Jyn Gerrera. This plays nicely into anatgonizing Galen narrative, that is a big part of Rebel Rising and central to Jyn – Galen emotional journey in R1. Why does she reveal her real name (the one she does not even identify with at that moment in time) to a random girl on Garel is beyond me. There goes continuity I guess
questions, twitter questions for Pablo. LOTS of Twitter questions for Pablo !
They paid Felicity Jones, what, $7 million for Rogue One… I wonder how much they paid her for three lines and a few grunts?
Maybe these shorts were part of the whole $7 million package, along with the usual promotional work. Same arrangement with Daisy Ridley probably.
Maybe. Makes sense.
It explains why Natalie Portman didn’t voice Padme. It’s not necessarily because they didn’t approach her or she wasn’t interested. If she was interested, they’d have to negotiate with her and agree on a fee. It would have been too much trouble for what is basically an extended ad for a doll. lol
This one is actually the seventh chapter.
Not the sixth.
Because saving a cat is worth getting killed over.
Well she lived, so yeah, totally worth it.
I thought maybe we could have one of the new female stormtroopers beating up the little girl and taking the cat. But I guess that wouldn’t fit in with the narrative that all the evil characters are men, aliens, and robots.
Well then people like you would be mad that a female character is (for once) filling a role that has always been filled by a male. And you can thank the male dominated hollywood/movie industry for creating the scenario that all evil characters are men….or perhaps you want to give me a list of movies where the majority of bad guys are women…and I dont mean some list of obscure movies from wikipedia. I mean huge blockbuster movies that come to mind without having to look them up…because its only recently that the feminist agenda has made all bad guys male right?
Sailor Moon, She-Ra, Wonder Woman, Tenko, Jewel Riders, etc. too obscure for a pajama boy like yourself?
Or…you know…Princess Leia.
Phasma could have……..but she probably would have died along the way considering how quickly she throws in the towel.
Yeah, like Captain Phasma and Ventress those male characters.
Oh wait….
I didn’t realize Captain Phasma and Ventress were in FoD. Oh wait, they’re not.
Because Forces of Destiny doesn’t cover every female Star Wars character in all of existence. This is obvious. But even if those characters don’t get covered, how would that be an agenda. the OT films always had protagonists who were GOOD with villains that were MALE. But it’s only the evil Disney agenda now? How does that work?
I think it’s Garel.
You are completely right – the landscape from the beginning matches perfectly, even the big rock formation: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Garel_City
Great eye! 🙂
The planet is Garel.
More is see this art style the more i dislike. sry but even if it s art scho

and it’s me or this site is full of ads and window replacements pop-ups ?
We have 6 ads, which pay for maintaining the site. I don’t think they are much. There shouldn’t be any pop-ups. Can you do a screenshot and show me when you get a pop-up? We speak about desktop, right?
yeah my bad i think. i had my windows browser (when on your site) replaced
by another ad window. maybe i ve trojans actually. and it only happened
once. i love thhis site btw and was maybe overreacting
Cool. Good episode. I like the cat
Weakest video in what has been a strong addition to Star Wars content in my opinion.
It is obvious they care less about the minuatie of the Star Wars universe and more about the message these shorts are spreading. I don’t mind that given the target audience here seems to be between 4 and 10 years old
Umm…when does this take place? Sometime during rebel Rising maybe? And if so, why would Jyn make a commotion with those stormtroopers? Isn’t she trying to stay out of trouble and not get arrested?
Not be all ooh plot hole but shouldn’t she have said her name was Liana Hallik? This is clearly before she met the Rebellion and her alias was blown.
