And the Winners Are….. Cartamundi Star Wars Playing Cards Review and Giveaway

CartamundiWell, the folks at Cartamundi have done it now…they’ve gotten together with Disney, and come up with playing card sets that are nothing if they aren’t collectible. Hit the jump and see what we’ve found when opening THIS treasure chest!

Recently we received a treasure trove of Star Wars playing card sets that are spectacular to behold. Of course the centerpiece of the collection is the boxed set of 7 decks of cards. Each deck is dedicated to each installment of our favorite saga from The Phantom Menace to The Force Awakens. This author almost found to to be a shame to unwrap the spectacular packaging, but even the most diehard collector will be tempted to inspect the contents.

As you can see, Episode I-VI decks are marked with a background photo of characters from each of the movies, and The Force Awakens deck comes in a collectible tin…a set of 5 dice are also included in the red flocked box. Each set of cards are graced with scenes of each of the prospective movies, and as a collector, this author finds them reminiscent of the original trading cards from the era, and brought a smile to my face as I shuffled through them…pun intended.

The next bit of loot finds us as individual decks in collectible tins…3 in all. Individually, each of the tins represent Boba Fett, Kylo Ren, and the Resistance vs. The First Order.

In the example below, we show you the Boba Fett deck that is typical of all of the decks spectacular artwork. the decks are very glossy representing both artwork and photos of the deck character in living color.

Next, we have the First Order Stormtrooper helmet that inside quite fittingly contains a “Villains” deck that depicts just that….our TFA Villains, and is quite an impressive display piece.

Each of the TFA and Boba Fett decks are either available individually wrapped, or in collectors tins including the above Villains deck in the helmet. This author plays an occasional hand of Blackjack and Poker and while these cards are not top shelf professional playing cards, they are a most collectible item or will be right at home in a neighborhood Poker game or on your Star Wars shelf.

In summary, the folks at Cartamundi have absolutely blown the doors off of the collectible playing card market for the Star Wars collector and they are fabulous. Cartamundi produces all kinds of cards ranging from the collectors series seen above to top tier casino quality products, and I think they’re indeed worth the purchase! Also those fine folks would like me to pass on to you just WHERE you can covet these fine collectibles, which is below.

My favorite scene in The Force Awakens was the Falcon escape. Great action and great teamwork between Finn and Rey.

These playing cards honestly look awesome! The tin and cover art all look amazing, what a great collectors item! My favorite scene in the force awakens has got to be when Han solo screams out BEN! What a powerful moment and and what follows is such a heart-braking scene.

I’ve always been a huge fan of scenes with the starfighters, so my favorite would have to be when the Resistance arrived on Takodana 🙂 Though Rey flying to Millennium Falcon was fantastic as well

My favorite scene was probably when that poor First Order officer had to break the news to Kylo Ren about how FN-2187 and the droid escaped Jakku in a freighter with the help of a girl.

My favourite scene is right near when we meet Rey. We just follow a day in her life, and it does a great job of setting up her situation on Jakku and her personality (plus, self-rising bread!)

My favorite scene is (SPOILERS) Han Solo’s death scene. Not only is it extremely emotional and well-acted from both Harrison Ford and Adam Driver, but its use of visual symbolism is also impeccable. The light slowly fading from the room as Kylo makes his choice to kill his father, both their faces turning red, all of the light gone from the place. It’s absolutely wonderful, and quite possibly one of the best scenes in the entire Star Wars saga.

My favorite scene in the Force Awakens is right when you first meet Rey on Jakku. I love how her theme plays as she slides down the sand dune, and how it plays for that whole scene up until where she meets BB-8. It gave such a sense of wonder and nostalgia that makes Star Wars truly great.

My favorite scene was during the big Kylo/Rey battle, when she pulls Luke’s saber from the snow and the Hope theme starts playing. I get so incredibly happy when that scene happens

Although, This wasn’t my favorite score I did like the track where Rey goes up the steps to see Luke. I just wish we saw more of the planet since it was the most visually interesting and glad itwill be back in VIII.

The final battle. I know it’s garnered some criticism, but I enjoyed every second of it. I never thought I’d see a girl wield the Skywalker lightsaber! My second favourite would have to be Han’s death.

My favorite scene is Poe’s effort to escape and his encounter with the -then- mysterious Kylo Ren. The first few minutes were an awesome introduction!

My favorite scene is definitely just seeing the Millennium Falcon fly again. When the camera first panned over, I almost shed a tear of joy. It was spectacular CGI, and a lot of fun to watch.

My favorite scene has to be a non-action one. The ending in which Luke Skywalker’s face is revealed and stares at Rey. It even had me losing a tear of commotion.

My Favorite TFA Scene is any scene with Poe and Finn, but specifically when they are walking towards a Special Ops Tie Fighter they are about to steal!

I haven’t actually thought up which scene in TFA is my Favorite, I loved so many scenes, like, overall every minute was enjoyable. The action scenes were some of the best in the saga, but as far as non-action scenes, definitely up there in my most liked are Rey’s intro sequence with the Star Destroyer and the instant bread, and the scene where Kylo mind-reads Rey but then she turns the table on him and reads HIS mind, when I saw that scene I was like “she’s gonna do it, she’s gonna show him how it’s done” and then she actually does it and I’m like “OOOOOHH!”
I know there are other, more liked scenes but those two I liked.

It is quite difficult to choose a favorite TFA scene, but one of my picks would be definitely the moment Rey gets the lightsaber before her duel with Kylo Ren, with the Burning Homestead underscore. Goosebumps everywhere!

It is funny to me that I hadn’t considered a favorite scene before, the movie has so many great ones. I think the escape scene at the beginning was awesome with the Millennium Falcon.
